A Stratus Interpreter is a professional who provides real-time language interpretation services, typically through video or phone, to facilitate communication between individuals who speak different languages. These interpreters work in various settings, such as healthcare, legal, or customer service environments, ensuring accurate and clear communication. They must be fluent in multiple languages, possess strong listening skills, and adhere to confidentiality and professional ethics. This role often requires quick thinking and adaptability to different subjects and terminologies.

What are the typical daily responsibilities for a Stratus interpreter?

As a Stratus Interpreter, you will facilitate real-time verbal communication between English speakers and individuals with limited English proficiency, often through the Stratus Video remote interpreting platform. Your daily tasks may include interpreting during medical appointments, legal consultations, or customer service interactions using video or audio calls. You will also be responsible for maintaining confidentiality, adhering to industry standards, and occasionally assisting with documentation or clarification as requested by clients. The role often requires you to work independently, but you may also collaborate with healthcare professionals, administrative staff, or legal teams to support accurate and effective communication. Adapting quickly to different subject matters and client needs is a regular aspect of the position.

Excellent listening skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to remain calm under pressure set top candidates apart. These skills are crucial to ensure accurate, confidential, and effective communication between limited English proficient individuals and service providers, often in high-stakes environments like medical or legal settings.
