Job description

Business Development Manager

Bastrop, TX

OPERATIONS, Business Development

Full-time

The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients. Maintain a high-quality customer database.
  • Identify active requests for proposals in the United States for tunneling projects (water, sewer, and transport) and non-tunneling projects that could become tunneling projects.
  • Create new revenue-generating tunnel projects for The Boring Company by persuading key stakeholders that a TBC tunnel meets their needs.
  • Help write, review, and submit proposals to local, state, and federal entities.
  • Lead company business development efforts.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience securing bids in the tunneling industry.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 3+ year(s) of experience engaging and negotiating with government entities.
  • 3+ year(s) of marketing experience.
  • 3+ year(s) managing a team.
  • Strategic thinker with innate ability to identify bottlenecks and develop solutions.
  • Strong persuasion and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to analyze others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do.
  • Effective communicator with exemplary presentation skills.
  • Natural ability to network and forge relationships.
