What You Will Contribute:
Strategic Sourcing SpecialistHelp Build the Supply Chain Behind Innovative Water Technology

At Badger Meter, every drop counts. As a global leader in smart water management solutions, we're looking for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to help strengthen and optimize the supply chain that supports our products, customers, and future growth.

In this role, you'll work closely with engineering, operations, quality, and procurement teams to identify sourcing opportunities, support new product development initiatives, evaluate supplier capabilities, and drive continuous improvements across our supply base. You'll play a key role in helping ensure our suppliers deliver the quality, innovation, service, and value needed to support Badger Meter's long-term success.

This is an excellent opportunity for a sourcing professional who enjoys balancing strategic supplier management with hands-on project execution and cross-functional collaboration.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with engineering, operations, quality, and project teams to support sourcing activities for new and existing products.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers that align with business objectives for quality, cost, delivery, and innovation.
  • Support supplier selection activities, including RFQ/RFP processes, supplier capability assessments, and supplier audits.
  • Analyze supplier performance, spend data, capacity, risk, and market trends to drive sourcing decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure supplier readiness for new product introductions and product enhancements.
  • Assist with contract negotiations, supplier development initiatives, and strategic sourcing projects.
  • Support procurement performance reporting, supplier scorecards, risk assessments, and key sourcing metrics.
  • Utilize ERP systems and planning tools to support purchasing activities, inventory optimization, and material availability when needed.
  • Travel up to 15% for supplier visits, audits, and business meetings.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Supplier Management.
  • Experience leading or supporting RFQ/RFP processes and supplier selection activities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate supplier performance, spend data, and sourcing opportunities.
  • Experience negotiating supplier agreements and driving cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Exposure to new product development and supplier launch activities.
  • Experience with supplier audits, supplier development, and supply chain risk management.
