The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and analytical Strategic Buyer to support the sourcing of products and services across key telecom and indirect spend categories.

In this role, you will participate in all phases of the sourcing lifecycle - from identifying cost-saving opportunities and supporting competitive bid events to supplier selection, contract execution, and purchase order management. You will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless availability of products and services that support company objectives while helping drive cost efficiency and supplier performance.

What You'll Do

Core Responsibilities:

You will support strategic sourcing initiatives and category management efforts across telecom and indirect spend categories.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the execution of enterprise strategic sourcing savings goals and assisting with initiatives designed to achieve year-over-year cost reduction targets

  • Utilizing data analytics, industry benchmarking, and sourcing methodologies to assist in developing and executing sourcing and category strategies for assigned telecom and indirect spend categories

  • Serving as a key participant in the end-to-end sourcing process, partnering with:

    • Legal

    • Finance

    • IT

    • Business unit stakeholdersto support category analysis, supplier selection, and contract execution

  • Assisting in supplier negotiations involving:

    • Contracts

    • Purchase ordersto help maximize value and minimize business risk

  • Monitoring supplier performance and assisting in maintaining supplier scorecards to track:

    • Quality

    • Delivery

    • Cost performance metrics on a monthly basis

  • Supporting supplier selection through structured RFx processes and helping implement risk mitigation techniques to ensure continuity of supply

  • Identifying and communicating opportunities for improved:

    • Pricing

    • Contract terms

    • Service levelsthrough ongoing supplier relationship management

  • Researching:

    • Industry trends

    • Emerging telecom technologies

    • Supply market conditionsto proactively identify risks and sourcing opportunities

  • Assisting with short-term and long-range planning through category management and sourcing processes aligned with company strategic business goals

  • Supporting compliance with enterprise strategic sourcing policies and procedures

  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and operational efficiency within the sourcing function

  • Performing additional duties as assigned

What You Bring

Minimum Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field

  • 2-4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing

  • Experience within the telecom, cable, or technology industry preferred

Skills & Abilities for Success in This Role

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Experience supporting sourcing or procurement activities across telecom or indirect spend categories

  • Demonstrated ability to assist with negotiating:

    • Vendor agreements

    • Statements of Work (SOWs)

    • Purchase orders

  • Familiarity with legal and commercial contract terms and conditions

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous priorities and projects with strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with:

    • Legal

    • Finance

    • IT

    • Business unit stakeholders

Data Analytics & Supplier Management

  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging data to:

    • Drive sourcing decisions

    • Identify cost-saving opportunities

  • Exposure to supplier performance management and vendor scorecard processes

  • Knowledge of:

    • Sourcing tools

    • eProcurement platforms

    • ERP systems preferred

Communication & Technical Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly present findings and recommendations to stakeholders

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required

  • Advanced Excel skills strongly preferred
