THE RUNDOWN
Playfly Sports is looking for a Director, Strategic Sourcing to join our team in New York, NY.
The Director of Strategic Sourcing leads the strategic sourcing and purchasing function across the organization. This role is responsible for establishing and managing a center-led procurement and strategic sourcing organization with a common procurement policy, standardized processes, governance and guidelines and drive adoption across business. The Director is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that drive cost efficiency, supplier performance, risk mitigation, and operational excellence. The Director partners cross functionally to ensure the company secures high quality goods and services at optimal value while maintaining compliance and strong vendor relationships. The Director will be an important member of the Business Operations leadership team, reporting to the Head of Business Operations, with strategic and executional responsibility for the procurement and strategic sourcing function.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Drive functional excellence in procurement incl. use of standard sourcing processes, category management, engagement low-cost country suppliers, risk mitigation, and supplier relationship management
    • Develop the procurement strategy, and objectives for category sourcing, that aligns with company goals, and ensure effective execution against agreed strategy
    • Establish sourcing plans that optimize cost, quality, service levels, and risk
    • Identify opportunities for consolidation, standardization, and long term supplier partnerships
    • Work with business leaders to identify, assess, qualify, and develop new suppliers needed for new product and service introductions
    • Build out comprehensive procurement knowledge of the marketplace, benchmarks, and industry best practices for global categories.
  • Vendor Negotiation & Management
    • Lead supplier selection, contract negotiation, and performance management of vendors
    • Oversee RFI, RFP contract development, review processes and utilize appropriate support tools to enhance sustainable
    • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key vendors
    • Implement vendor scorecards and performance metrics
    • Ensure contractual compliance and manage renewals and renegotiations
    • Gather and analyze feedback regarding product quality and supplier performance on a frequent basis
  • Cost Management and Savings Initiatives
    • Drive cost reduction initiatives and measurable savings programs
    • Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to support negotiation strategy
    • Oversee total cost of ownership analysis across major spend categories
    • Responsible for the overall delivery of savings and operational targets and KPIs to the organization
    • Establish and run a robust supplier management process across the procurement lifecycle and actively address under-performance
  • Operational Excellence
    • Establish and standardize procurement processes and implement best practices, including tracking procurement activity and monitoring savings of procurement initiatives
    • Conduct monthly procurement reviews with business and functional leaders
    • Ensure timely and accurate purchasing workflows
    • Leverage procurement systems and tools to improve efficiency and reporting
    • Establish clear policies, controls, and governance frameworks
    • Develop strategic governance and supplier management framework for managing key supplier relationships and escalations
  • Risk and Compliance
    • Identify and mitigate supply chain and vendor risks
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
    • Maintain proper documentation and audit readiness
  • Leadership and Team Development
    • Recruit, mentor, and develop procurement team members
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
    • Partner with Finance, Legal, Operations, and other departments to support business needs

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of direct experience in progressive procurement or strategic sourcing experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Strong negotiation and contract management expertise
  • Experience managing multimillion dollar spend portfolios
  • Proficiency with procurement and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, financial, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Confident and creative team player
  • Possess positive attitude and hands-on approach with team members, clients, and vendors
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and executive presence

COMPENSATION
Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
The base pay range for this role is:
$120,000-$130,000 USD
