About the Role

As a Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, negotiating with various vendors, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to deliver on business objectives for the Spend Money Wisely team (Verkada's take on Strategic Sourcing). Your primary focus will involve negotiating strategic deals, optimizing the technology portfolio through vendor consolidation opportunities, and providing strategic guidance to functional partners in balancing new features, seat/usage expansion, and rip-n-replace initiatives. You will lead sourcing initiatives, manage vendor relationships, work closely with Legal, Security, and Finance teams, and ensure cost efficiency and value optimization across Verkada's technology portfolio. A key focus will be to create and deliver category strategies.

We are committed to a thriving in-office culture. This role requires that you be on-site at our HQ in San Mateo, CA 5 days a week.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives for technology portfolio procurement.
  • Negotiate complex, high-value contracts and agreements with strategic vendors.
  • Identify and execute vendor consolidation opportunities to optimize the technology portfolio.
  • Provide strategic guidance to functional partners on procurement decisions, balancing new features, seat/usage expansion, and rip-n-replace considerations & initiatives.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships, ensuring performance and compliance with contracts.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in technology space and how that may impact sourcing decisions.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving strategies and initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on key sourcing metrics and performance indicators.
  • Develop key category strategies for business partners to establish priorities to maximize value.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Legal, Security, and Finance to ensure alignment of sourcing strategies with business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulations for Verkada's global scale.
  • Be a key contributor in driving and supporting our P2P process.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of proven experience in strategic sourcing, technology procurement, and vendor management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in negotiating complex contracts.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and value optimization.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance to functional partners on procurement decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement policies and regulations.
  • Experience with vendor consolidation and technology portfolio optimization.
