The Sr. Materials Manager is a key site leader overseeing a 50+ person materials organization through 7-10 direct leaders. This role drives the strategy and execution of all materials functions, including production control, detailed scheduling, inventory management, logistics, and 3PL performance. You'll shape day-to-day flow while building long-term capability, strengthening capacity management, schedule performance, shortage recovery, and risk mitigation. The Sr. Materials Manager ensures materials move seamlessly from raw inputs to finished goods, enabling reliable operations, regulatory compliance, and strong customer delivery performance.
What You Will Do:
  • Development and ownership of the inventory plan (Raw, WIP, and Finished Goods) aligned with AOP/SFP objectives, including defining action items to achieve targeted outcomes
  • Ensure on-time delivery (OTD) of materials to production lines (on time starts) and customers by managing planning, staging, and fulfillment processes
  • Support quarterly analysis of Excess & Obsolete (E&O), PFEP, (Effective Material Planning (EMP) and Entitlement, including the development and execution of resulting action items
  • Coordinate with the manufacturing team to manage changes in production priorities or order modifications
  • Champion continuous improvement for material planning, receiving, storage, staging, and WIP control
  • Assess workload requirements to ensure adequate staffing is in place to support business operations and facilitate training and development of employees
  • Manage the material strategy to support the New Product Introduction to End of Life
  • Oversee the end-to-end materials process for the site, including planning, detailed scheduling, logistics, and delivery commitment, and lead strategic inventory initiatives
  • Accountable for inventory control (e.g., cycle counting) ensuring stock is maintained at an appropriate level and meet site NITO targets
  • Play a key role in the manufacturing automation strategy, material release strategy, handling methods, kitting strategy and material movement methods for all parts from storage location through to final delivery
  • Support business SIOP process and S&OE execution performance
  • Monitor and report on key metrics for the site, ensuring alignment with organizational goals (Inventory, NITO, Inventory accuracy, MPS Adherence)
  • Represent materials in the Program Management Team (PMT) and tier meetings with the value stream leaders/program managers.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of 7 years' experience
  • SAP Experience
  • Capacity Planning or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience

The salary range for this role is 145,600 USD - 276,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
