Job description

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Business Development Director to lead growth across the consumer products and packaging market.

This is a high-impact role for a commercially minded leader who knows how to identify opportunities, build relationships, and turn customer needs into profitable business. You will be responsible for developing new business, expanding Footprint's market presence, and building strategic relationships with customers and partners.

You will work closely with the Managing Director and cross-functional leaders to develop and execute growth strategies, identify emerging market opportunities, and bring innovative packaging solutions to customers.

The ideal candidate is more than a salesperson. You are a strategic partner, relationship builder, problem solver, and growth leader who knows how to move an opportunity from an initial conversation to a long-term commercial relationship.

  • Collaborate Across the Business: Partner with product development, engineering, manufacturing, operations, finance, and supply chain teams to turn customer opportunities into successful commercial solutions.
  • Grow Your Career: Take on meaningful challenges, expand your industry relationships, and play a key role in a growing global organization.
  • Bring Your Ideas: We value people who challenge the status quo, think creatively, and aren't afraid to find a better way.
Here Are Some Things You’ll Do Drive Business Growth
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across targeted consumer products and packaging markets.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through strategic prospecting, networking, referrals, industry relationships, and events.
  • Lead complex sales opportunities from initial engagement through solution development, negotiation, contract execution, and implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Footprint's customer base, market presence, and revenue potential.
Build Strategic Customer Relationships
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary commercial contact for prospective strategic customers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer business objectives, challenges, and market priorities.
  • Translate customer needs into innovative packaging solutions that create measurable value.
Shape Market Strategy

  • Analyze competitive activity, customer needs, and market dynamics to inform business development strategy.
  • Identify opportunities created by evolving sustainability initiatives, regulatory requirements, and changing consumer expectations.
  • Represent Footprint at trade shows, customer events, industry conferences, and other strategic forums.
  • Build a strong external network and position Footprint as an innovative leader within the packaging industry.
Collaborate Across the Organization
  • Partner with the Managing Director of Consumer Products and leaders across Product Development, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to develop customer solutions.
  • Bring customer insights and market intelligence into product development and commercialization decisions.
  • Coordinate customer requirements with manufacturing and operations teams to support successful implementation.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to evaluate feasibility, capacity, timing, pricing, and profitability of new opportunities.
  • Support forecasting, demand planning, and capacity discussions as opportunities progress through the sales cycle.
Deliver Financial Results
  • Meet or exceed annual revenue, sales, margin, and profitability objectives.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts and maintain clear visibility into pipeline health and opportunity progression.
  • Evaluate deal economics and recommend pricing strategies that balance customer value with long-term profitability.
What You'll Bring

  • Build a strong portfolio of strategic customer relationships.
  • Consistently identify and convert high-value business opportunities.
  • Deliver sustainable revenue and profitable growth.
  • Establish Footprint as a trusted innovation partner to customers.
