Atticus Stocker Job Summary

A stocker for Atticus has two main responsibilities: organization of retail backstock and maintaining stock levels on the retail floor. The stocker will work with the Purchasing Manager and Store Manager to merchandise products based on featured items, seasonality, and upcoming holidays. Additionally, the stocker is in charge of their work space the basement store room. This means ensuring that the store room is kept clean by conducting daily sweeping and cleaning of the area. They will get to familiarize themselves with a wide variety of unique products sourced from local entrepreneurs and small businesses from around the country.

Requirements for the Position

The stocker is expected to spend the part of their shift stocking, part organizing, part cleaning, and part re-merchandising displays. This position requires dependability, physical activity, a sense of urgency, and the ability to perform multiple duties within the store. Our store is open daily, which requires morning, evening, weekend, and holiday availability. Their duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Duties and Responsibilites

  • Receive, un box, and organize back stock of grocery items to be properly stored
  • Rotate product using FIFO (first in first out)
  • Be mindful of expiration dates on retail product and notify management so specials can be run before product expires
  • Properly dispose of large quantities of cardboard in the recycling unit
  • Receive and organize paper goods used for service in the store room
  • Follow a planogram provided by the store manager to merchandise shelves and aisles based on holidays, seasons, and featured products
  • Use a sticker gun to accurately price items for sale
  • Communicate with purchasing manager of any damaged or non-saleable items so credit may be received

  • This job is physically demanding as it will require you to bring boxes up and down a staircase from the receiving area to the store room
