Position Overview:

The Store Director of a Healthy Living store location is responsible for leading all day-to-day operations while carrying out the vision and objectives of Healthy Living's Senior Leadership Team and Store Owners. This role ensures exceptional retail conditions, maintaining a store environment that is clean, safe, visually compelling, and aligned with brand standards. The Store Director provides strong, people-centered leadership by offering thoughtful coaching that supports growth, clarity, and empowerment across the management team and hourly staff. Equally important, the Store Director upholds a culture of accountabilitysetting clear expectations, following through consistently, and ensuring that all policies, procedures, and protocols established by the Senior Leadership Team are maintained.

Requirements

Degree: High School diploma; Bachelors degree in Business or a related field preferred

Experience:

  • At least 4 years management/progressive supervisory experience; preferably in a natural foods/grocery retail environment
  • At least 5 years of experience in a retail environment; preferably in a natural foods/grocery industry
  • Previous experience with financial management/cash management

Store Operations

  • Oversees and is accountable for day-to-day store operations and ensures an organized and smoothly run operation
  • Works to ensure a stable, profitable, and growing business
  • Develops and recommends store goals, performance objectives, guidelines and best practices that are based on Store Owners and/or CFO's guiding principles
  • Monitors and manages store operations throughout the various departments
  • Promotes and empowers continuous quality improvement across all departments
  • Works with Purchasing Dept and Receiving Dept to establish procedures to monitor and manage store inventory.
  • Ensures staff are treated fairly and are provided a positive, energetic and joyful work community in accordance with State and Federal law and employee personnel policies as adopted by Human Resources, CFO and Store Owners
  • Ensures adherence to policies and procedures as outlined in the Staff Resource Guide
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws: licenses, permits and health & safety regulations; manages and monitors compliance with applicable federal and state health and safety laws
  • Ensures that the store provides a safe work environment for all staff and guests; works with Training Specialist and HR to ensure that all staff are trained in and follow all organizational safety procedures and guidelines

Leadership & Management

  • Motivates & inspires the Management team and all HL staff
  • Builds a strong Management team through mutual trust, respect and coordination and promotes and encourages the same between management and staff
  • Provides a model of supportive, participatory and servant leadership promoting concepts of team building and empowerment
  • Works with HR to interview and hire management and supervisory staff
  • Supervises and regularly evaluates performance of department supervisors and buyers, performs regular and timely performance reviews
  • Oversees, assists, provides leadership to, and supervises all department managers in planning and performance to achieve all individual department and store goals and objectives
  • Provides and coordinates Manager training as necessary in order to ensure success; fosters a work environment that promotes ongoing education and development
  • Works with HR on all disciplinary actions and terminations for management/supervisory staff
  • Sets performance goals for managers/supervisors to support short and long-term plans and holds them accountable to these objectives
  • Works with VP of Ops and HR to maintain an organizational staffing structure that is in line with and supports HL's the financial goals and objectives while also promotes fair distribution of work while maintaining outstanding "extra mile" hospitality to guests
  • Schedules and leads monthly management team meetings

Relationship to Store Owners & Financial Accountability

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to HL's Mission, Vision, Values, Culture, Guiding Principles and Policies
  • Participates with the Leadership Team as a co-leader in identifying emerging trends and progressive practices, and establishing organizational short and long-term goals and objectives
  • Attends all meetings with Leadership as required
  • Acts as the communication liaison between Store Owners, Managers and Staff
  • Works with Store Owners, and HR regarding instances where it is believed a policy of Healthy Living should be modified, discontinued, or replaced
  • Communicates regularly and keeps Leadership Team informed regarding operations, community affairs and issues, potential legal issues, and all other matters relevant to the successful operations of Healthy Living
  • Works with Store Owners, Marketing/Design team and to monitor and manage guest and community relations.

Pay Rate: This is a Full Time salaried position with a starting range between $89,440-$109,012, depending on experience.
