Job description

We are a stone fabrication shop looking for an experienced Fabrication Shop Manager to oversee the day-to-day scheduling and production of our stone fabrication operation.

Previous experience in the countertop/stone fabrication industry is required. We are looking for someone who understands the entire process from template through fabrication and installation and can keep multiple projects moving efficiently at the same time.

This is a hands-on management and coordination position. You will be responsible for communicating with homeowners, contractors, designers, our fabrication team, templaters, and installers to make sure projects are properly prepared, scheduled, fabricated, and installed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate template appointments with homeowners, contractors, designers, and project managers.
  • Confirm projects are ready for template and that required information, sinks, appliances, drawings, and other job details are available.
  • Review template information and identify potential issues before projects are released for fabrication.
  • Create and manage the weekly fabrication schedule based on installation dates, material availability, job complexity, and shop capacity.
  • Coordinate installation dates with customers, contractors, designers, and installation crews.
  • Manage projects from template → layout approval → fabrication → quality control → installation.
  • Perform slab layouts with customers and prepare layouts for client cut approval.
  • Understand how countertop pieces should be positioned on slabs while considering veining, seams, waterfalls, finished edges, material defects, and material yield.
  • Review drawings, digital templates, measurements, job specifications, and fabrication requirements before cutting.
  • Coordinate with CNC/machine operators and fabricators to make sure jobs are produced correctly and on schedule.
  • Prioritize jobs and adjust the production schedule when changes, delays, remakes, or rush projects occur.
  • Coordinate with installers to ensure jobs are complete and ready before crews leave for installation.
  • Monitor fabrication quality and catch mistakes before material leaves the shop.
  • Track job progress and keep customers and project stakeholders updated when necessary.
  • Help resolve field, fabrication, template, and installation issues.

Applicants must have previous experience in the stone countertop fabrication industry.
