What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a stitcher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Stitcher, you need proficiency in hand and machine sewing, fabric cutting, and pattern reading, often supported by a high school diploma or vocational training in textiles. Familiarity with industrial sewing machines, sergers, and fabric-specific tools is typically essential for the role. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow instructions precisely are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure high-quality, accurate, and efficient production of garments or textile products in manufacturing or tailoring settings.

What are some common challenges faced by stitching professionals, and how can they be addressed on the job?

Stitching professionals often encounter challenges such as working with different fabric types, meeting tight deadlines, and maintaining consistent quality across multiple pieces. Adapting to various materials and understanding their behavior under a sewing machine is crucial for producing high-quality work. Effective time management and regular communication with team members or supervisors can help prioritize tasks and address issues quickly. Continuous skill development and attention to detail also play key roles in overcoming these challenges and advancing in the field.

What is the difference between Stitching vs Tailoring?

AspectStitchingTailoring

Work environmentFactories, workshopsCustom shops, boutiques
CertificationsNone typically requiredFashion or tailoring certifications often preferred
Common usageAssembling garments, repairsCustom fitting, designing, altering

Stitching involves basic sewing tasks like assembling garments and repairs, often performed in factories or workshops. Tailoring is a more specialized craft focused on custom fitting and designing clothing, usually in boutique settings. While stitching requires minimal certifications, tailoring often benefits from formal training. Both roles are essential in the apparel industry but differ significantly in skill level and scope.

What is stitching?

Stitching refers to the process of joining pieces of fabric or other materials together using needle and thread, either by hand or with a sewing machine. Professionals who perform stitching work are often called stitchers or sewing machine operators, and they are essential in industries such as garment manufacturing, upholstery, and footwear production. Their main responsibilities include assembling fabric components, repairing items, ensuring seams are secure, and sometimes following specific design patterns or instructions. Stitchers need attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and familiarity with different stitching techniques and equipment. This job is crucial for producing high-quality, durable products in various manufacturing sectors.

Job description

Company Description

It all started in sunny San Diego, California in 2004 when a visionary engineer, Fred Luddy, saw the potential to transform how we work. Fast forward to today — ServiceNow stands as a global market leader, bringing innovative AI-enhanced technology to over 8,100 customers, including 85% of the Fortune 500®. Our intelligent cloud-based platform seamlessly connects people, systems, and processes to empower organizations to find smarter, faster, and better ways to work. But this is just the beginning of our journey. Join us as we pursue our purpose to make the world work better for everyone.

Job Description

Build the GTM Data Foundation That Powers Personalization & Revenue Acceleration

The Director, Data Strategy & Services owns the data strategy that directly enables our marketing operations and GTM velocity. You'll lead the product roadmap for our Customer Data Platform (CDP), identity graph, and the governed, real-time data infrastructure that powers personalization, attribution, and AI-driven revenue decisions across Marketo, Adobe AEM, Demandbase, and our analytics stack.

This is a high-impact product leadership role where your decisions cascade across a 100+ person GTM organization—directly influencing campaign velocity, personalization depth, and revenue team enablement. You'll translate complex data challenges into simple, usable capabilities that let marketing and sales move faster.

What you get to do:

  • Own the roadmap** for CDP, identity resolution, and data enrichment—prioritizing what marketing operations and revenue teams need to execute at scale
  • Lead identity graph expansion** with hands-on input into matching logic, deterministic/probabilistic models, and cross-channel stitching that powers real-time personalization
  • Drive data quality as a competitive advantage**—define and enforce SLOs (identity match rate, freshness, completeness) that directly impact campaign performance and attribution accuracy
  • Enable AI/ML at scale**—ensure your data pipelines and feature engineering support predictive scoring, journey propensity, and churn models that drive GTM decisions
  • Govern without gating**—architect privacy and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, emerging US laws) that protect the business while enabling innovation and real-time activation
  • Set data integration standards** that let IT, Data Engineering, and downstream teams move confidently—defining latency targets, SLAs, and integration patterns that scale
Qualifications

Who You Are

  • You've led data strategy, MarTech operations, or CDP implementation in a B2B SaaS environment and know what "good" looks like operationally
  • You've managed product roadmaps for data capabilities with multiple stakeholder groups pulling in different directions—and found elegant ways to prioritize
  • You're fluent in modern GTM stacks: CDP (Adobe, Salesforce, Treasure Data), CRM (Salesforce, Dynamics), MAP (Marketo, HubSpot), ABM (Demandbase), and analytics (CJA, Snowflake)
  • You understand identity resolution challenges (deterministic matching, probabilistic modeling, cross-channel stitching) and can evaluate or guide technical solutions
  • You've shipped data governance frameworks that actually worked—balancing security/compliance with the speed marketing needs
  • You can translate "we need a unified identity graph" into concrete milestones, measurable outcomes, and quarterly execution plans
  • You're comfortable in the room with C-level GTM leaders, IT architects, and data engineers—and can speak credibly to all three
  • You've supported AI/ML use cases in GTM (churn models, propensity scoring, audience segmentation)
  • Highly Preferred: experience with Adobe suite, Kafka or Snowflake

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $173,300 - $238,300, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
