JOB GOAL: The STEM Coach works under the Director of STEM to assist and support the educational staff in instruction and school initiatives. The coach is responsible for guiding teachers in planning and developing lessons, using appropriate instructional procedures and materials as well as assisting with academic reviews, curriculum work, professional development and participation on the Student Success Team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience
  • Master's Degree in Education preferred, or currently enrolled in a graduate program
  • TEAM Program trained Mentor / Reflection Reviewer (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge and the ability to communicate the key elements of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.
  • Ability to plan and implement both formal and informal professional development activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with and motivate teachers and other staff in a collegial and collaborative manner
  • Ability to work independently with good organizational skills and the ability to be flexible and handle changing priorities
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with school administration, school staff, and community members

CERTIFICATIONS: Connecticut State Department of Education Certification, appropriate for grades 9-12, in a STEM content area.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month work year, 186 days. Salary Range $44,529 - $107,769 in accordance with the Torrington Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
