Job description

Primarily responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all sales activities for the steel product line from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives by performing the following duties.
$65,000-$85,000 DOE.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Foster and maintain relationships with decision makers for steel products for assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate with relationship manager for HVAC commercial accounts on steel strategies as well as opportunities across other product lines.
  • Coordinate order fulfillment with sales support staff to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of steel purchases from assigned accounts.
  • Participate in overall product strategy, research and analysis of market data.
  • Helps product sales plans and budgets for steel sales which align our vendor lead times, inventory, pricing and market development strategy with our sales budget and growth plan.
  • Reviews progress continually through product life cycle to ensure attainment of objectives.
  • Continually monitors other steel competitors in the marketplace to ensure we have the best product and services in the market.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

INVENTORY
  • Works in partnership with purchasing and Product Line Manager to monitor cost structure and proper inventory levels to support our sales and inventory plan to budget.

PRICING
  • Recommending pricing exceptions for assigned accounts to Product Line Manager.

MARKET DEVELOPMENT & SUPPORT
  • Primary responsibility is to grow and support all steel sheet and coil business in Colorado, Wyoming, and other markets as deemed appropriate.
  • This position usually operates in a supporting role to the relationship manager for Commercial HVAC accounts.
  • Assists Product Line Manager in product training initiatives for steel.
  • Solicits and communicates necessary competitive information and new market trends to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Travels to meet with customers and company personnel, as required.
  • Primary contact for troubleshooting any steel specific issues for assigned accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years related steel sales experience or equivalent and proven track record of developing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must have good driving record.
  • Qualified applicants must be customer-oriented and motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Formal presentation skills within both large and small group settings.
  • Strong negotiation skills with ability to influence and drive decisions to finalize the sale.
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Product and application knowledge are essential.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to effectively communicate with customers and staff to make an accurate assessment of customer needs. Ability to develop customer presentations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic computer proficiency, particularly with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the internet, familiarity with AS400 database a strong plus. Advanced skills in Excel a plus.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze customer problems and to recommend the proper course of action. Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements.
