Read structural drawings, fit and assemble steel members, bolt/weld connections, and safely erect steel frames on job sites. Precise alignment, on-time delivery, and teamwork with crane operators, welders, and other trades, forklift and material handlingÂ
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret structural drawings/blueprints.
- Fit, bolt, align, and anchor steel members to exact tolerances.
- Weld or bolt connections as required (MIG/TIG knowledge preferred).
- Position and level members using tools (measuring tapes, levels, lasers).
- Erect frames on-site with rigging and crane coordination; verify plumb and level.
- Inspect components for quality; report deviations; maintain tools and lifting equipment.
- Maintain safety, wear PPE, and participate in toolbox talks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade certificate/apprenticeship.
- 2–5+ years of structural steel fitter experience.
- Proficient with reading drawings; basic welding knowledge (MIG/TIG) preferred.
- Knowledge of rigging, hoisting, and lifting practices.
- Physical ability to lift 50–75 lbs; climb, bend, and work at heights.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple sites.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
- NCCER or AWS certifications.
- Fall protection training; CPR/First Aid.
Certifications (as required by project)
- OSHA 10/30; Crane/Rigging certifications as needed.
