Job description

2nd Shift Fitter

Location: Arlington, TX 76010
Pay: $19$23/hour (based on experience and fitting test results)
Shift: 3:00 PM 11:30 PM
Overtime may extend shift to 5:00 PM 3:30 AM; occasional Saturdays required

About the Opportunity

Ascend Staffing is seeking experienced Metal Fitters to join a leading national manufacturer specializing in the fabrication, supply, and installation of fuel station canopies and related components serving the retail petroleum industry.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong fitting experience, the ability to read blueprints, and hands-on skills using blow torches or plasma cutters.


Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications to determine fitting and fabrication requirements

  • Measure, cut, and fit metal components using blow torch and/or plasma cutting equipment

  • Set up and operate welding and fitting tools and machinery

  • Perform MIG tack welding to assemble and position components accurately

  • Fabricate and assemble metal columns and structural components to precise tolerances

  • Inspect welded and fitted parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications

  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper functionality

  • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE

  • Ensure compliance with company and industry standards


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of metal fabrication or fitting experience

  • Strong blueprint reading and layout skills (required)

  • Experience using blow torch or plasma cutter (required)

  • MIG welding and tack welding experience

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment

  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends
