As a bartender, you must be friendly and outgoing, and possess excellent communication skills. In this role you will mix and serve drinks to guests, either directly or through wait staff, and take food orders. You will be expected to mix and match ingredients in order to create classic and innovate drinks in accordance with guests' needs and expectations. Your role is to enhance the guest experience, making their visit enjoyable. Consistency is a key element in creating a positive guest experience. Organization and the ability to act quickly and effectively is also important, as is independent judgment skills. Our bartenders play a critical role, as it is his/her responsibility to make sure our guests are delighted in their visit and leave with the best guest experience possible. At all times, bartenders are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.
Essential Functions:
  • Check identification of each guest to confirm it meets legal drinking age
  • Serve alcohol and non-alcohol related beverages
  • Plan and present bar menu - Take and submit food orders
  • Assess guest needs and preferences and make recommendations
  • Maintain overall bar and utensil cleanliness
  • Stock and restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
  • Prepare drink garnishment
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
  • Cash handling; balance cash receipts
  • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to guests' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading guests to stop drinking, ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated guests
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations
  • Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
  • Helps guests select food and beverages by presenting menu; suggesting courses; explaining restaurant specialties; identifying appropriate alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; answering food preparation questions.
  • Serves orders by picking up and delivering guests' choices as appropriate.
  • Responds to additional guest requirements by inquiring of needs.
  • Obtains revenues by totaling charges; issuing bill; accepting payment; delivering bill and payment; returning change or credit card and signature slip to guests.
  • Stays up to date on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items.
  • Performing basic bar cleaning tasks as needed or directed by management.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Concludes dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant; inviting guests to return.
  • Must obtain a New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit and a Food Handlers Certificate

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room staff.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)

Work Environment:
This job operates in a fast-paced restaurant setting. The noise level is usually moderate to high. This role may routinely use standard restaurant equipment needed. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to: Cuts, slipping, tripping, falls, burns, etc.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
This position requires constant standing. All positions may require constant, frequent, or occasional: standing, walking, lifting, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is an hourly position. Scheduled hours vary by restaurant needs, including necessary adjustments made during high and low seasonal changes. Typical days and hours of work for this position are Monday-Sunday 5am-10pm or later (varying shifts). Other days/hours and holidays required as needed or assigned.
Required Experience:
A minimum of 1-year restaurant/bartending experience required. Restaurant industry experience preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant food safety and sanitation laws, principles, procedures, and practices.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
  1. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
  1. Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
  1. Satisfactory completion of a background check in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, interpret general business rules and technical procedures.

Other (Secondary) Responsibilities:
