Job description

Maintains, repairs and operates mechanical equipment for steam generation, ventilation, pnuematics and cooling systems.
What you will do
  • Maintains, repairs and operates mechanical equipment for steam generation, ventilation, pneumatics and cooling systems.• Installs, maintains, adjusts, modifies heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems and equipment.• Maintains and repairs refrigerating/power plant equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency.• Makes repairs and adjustments as required and in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and operation manuals.• Reads and interprets blue prints, schematics and specifications; estimate time and material requirements.• Performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections of machines/equipment.• Replaces worn and defective parts on equipment. Maintains proper water conditioning boilers and cleans boilers and other equipment.• Moves equipment, materials and supplies as needed.• Lubricates compressors, motors, generators and other moving mechanisms.
  • Reviews work orders, priority status, designated time schedules and performs required assignments.
  • Works effectively as a team member within department and with customers to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration.• Interacts and works collaboratively with patient/family/hospital staff in a customer responsive and courteous manner, in compliance with iRESPECT standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction.• Assists personnel when needed by performing tasks to ensure department meets workload demands.• Communicates effectively and follows-up with engineering and other hospital personnel regarding work orders and inspection/repair activities.• Answers dispatched calls and responds to emergency alarm/ communication systems accordingly.
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information. Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.e. HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance Policies).
  • Maintains required department records, reports and files including safety inspections and repair records. Adheres to established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance/quality improvement with consideration given to risk management, infection control and patient safety.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and personnel.• Cleans and assists with care and maintenance of department tools and equipment and utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner.• Reports malfunction of equipment to supervisor.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including, department specific requirements.
  • Provides coverage for relief and absences. Demonstrates flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays to provide continuous coverage as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • High School Graduate or equivalent Required and
  • Completion of a steam/refrigeration program Required
  • First Class Steam and Refrigeration License Required
  • Minimum 3 years experience Thirty-six (36) months HVAC experience or related skilled crafts or trade or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Required
