What is an STD case manager?

STD Case Managers are healthcare professionals who specialize in managing cases of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). They work with patients to provide education, counseling, and support throughout diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. Their responsibilities often include coordinating testing, ensuring treatment compliance, conducting contact tracing, and helping to prevent the spread of infections. STD Case Managers may work in public health departments, clinics, hospitals, or community organizations focused on sexual health.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an STD case manager?

To thrive as an STD Case Manager, you need a background in public health, nursing, or social work, with knowledge of infectious diseases and case management principles. Familiarity with electronic case reporting systems, CDC guidelines, and confidential data management tools is typically required.
