Description
Duration of Internship is subject to the City's discretion.
Under direct supervision, performs administrative tasks to assist staff with the performance of their duties. The intern may be placed in any of the following Departments: City Manager's Office, Administrative Services, Community Development, Police, Recreation, General Services, or Transportation. Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to the following areas:

Day to Day Responsibilities
  • May assist department on program development and initiative
  • Prepares documents, presentations, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Gathers information from various sources
  • Provides information to the public, as directed
  • Provides administrative support
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Knowledge of:
  • Principles for providing customer service
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office software
  • Administrative and clerical procedures
  • Basic research and statistical research methods and techniques.

Skills:
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Operate office equipment including computers, copying machines and phone systems
  • Collect, compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data
  • Learn software applications as assigned
  • Prioritize work and meet deadlines with many interruptions.

Ability to:
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Use tact, patience, and courtesy when engaging with others
  • Plan, organize, prioritize, and schedule assignments.

Education and Experience:
Equivalent to high school graduation and be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or another continued educational program.
License/Certificate:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required.
