Support flight control system design, development, test, and field deployment using disciplined, requirements driven engineering processes.
• Provide expert controls advice and support during the entire flight controls life cycle of design, development, test, and field deployment.
• Possess knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems and the ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting flight control system design, development, test, and field deployment.
• Communicate effectively and brief customer senior Engineers and Managers
• Working with program requirements and deriving component performance specifications
• Authoring and maintaining project documentation
• Supporting design reviews (i.e. test readiness, peer review, and CDR)
• Presenting status, issues, and risk to management
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering, or closely related field with 6 to 10+ years of related experience in controls.
• Experience with supporting flight control system design, development, test, and field deployment using disciplined, requirements driven engineering processes.
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems issues, recommending solutions to the team and management, and implementing recovery.
• Experience with unmanned air vehicle systems and flight controls
• Able to apply control loop design and performance analysis techniques from classical to current control theory
• Able to develop physics-based models of aerospace control system components
• Capable of compiling and analyzing ground and flight test data and applying the results to assess and improve component models.
• Must be proficient with MATLAB and Simulink.
• Real-time software development experience
• Must be flexible and work in a team environment and be a team player.
• Be able to work directly with technicians
• Comfortable working in the lab with flight hardware, ground support equipment, and test equipment.
