The job:
A Sr. Electrical/Control System Engineer is responsible for efficiently designing, managing, testing, implementing, and completing projects in a timely manner while meeting or exceeding project specifications and budget requirements. As a Sr. E&I System Engineer, you will work in all areas of project implementation including project management, panel design, hardware selection, vendor/end user/consultant interaction, programming, testing, and site support. You will work with relay and PLC based control panel designs including schematics, panel layouts, and bill of material.
You will perform design analysis including fuse sizing, breaker sizing, wire sizing, and short circuit analysis. You will perform in-shop testing and field startups, and you will support Project Management, Sales, Receiving, Drafting, Documentation, Purchasing, Production and Shipping.
The Sr, E&C System Engineer will provide responsibility and ownership for project performance in terms of quality, schedule, and budget requirements. You will provide technical guidance and mentoring for others with a thorough knowledge of industry standards and procedures. You will supervise others, validate designs, and mentor others. You will provide technical expertise being sought for advice and direction for sophisticated problem solving.

  • Design electrical control panels and systems to meet project specifications and division design standards.
  • Coordinate with panel production personnel in the fabrication of control panels.
  • Develop procedures and plans for factory and field testing of control panels and systems.
  • Develop PLC and HMI applications per project specifications and across multiple platforms using division/industry standards and best practices.
  • Specialize in sophisticated solutions for process control systems.
  • Manage multiple large projects following company procedures and guidelines.
  • Coordination of projects and resources to meet expected deliverables for quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Direct and supervise teams.
  • Perform as a technical resource for others providing insight and guidance to solving problems.
  • Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Perform "3-Way Check" of Control Panel Drawings.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Technical document writing including Testing Procedures, Training Plans and Sequence of Operations.
  • Notify Project Managers and Group Managers of schedule/budget goals issues.
  • Request quotes from vendors and verify quoted equipment meets specification requirements.
  • Provide customers with technical support via phone, remote access, and onsite service.
  • Provide technical direction, training and mentoring of Engineering and Field Service personnel.
  • Leads the technical implementation of a project from design, programming, testing, and commissioning with minimal supervision.
  • Attend training and continuing education related to industry.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience, Educational and Ability Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, E-Mail, Internet, AutoCAD.
  • Minimum of Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) years of related work experience in related field.
  • Professional Engineer License desired.
  • Specialize in specific industries or technologies with knowledge of what to do as well as how not to do it.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn technical skills.
  • Self-motivated and have a proven ability to assume primary responsibility for all projects with no supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience with specialized tools and test equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with customers, vendors, company employees and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills for mentoring, training, and development of team members.
