THE POSITION As a Purchasing Agent at Norristown State Hospital, you will contribute to important procurement efforts that help the hospital deliver high-quality services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports purchasing operations by processing shopping carts, coordinating bids, and ensuring that requested supplies and equipment are accurate and properly documented. As a Purchasing Agent, you will perform the following duties: Shopping Cart Processing: Review and process shopping carts in SAP and SRM for supplies, commodities, parts, and services Bid Coordination: Set up bidding methods, schedule bid openings, and communicate results to vendors and staff Vendor Communication: Locate sources of supply, confirm pricing, and contact vendors to resolve issues or place emergency orders Documentation Review: Check requisitions for accuracy, required specifications, and proper justification before submission Operational Support: Assist departments with proposals, fixed asset orders, and daily purchasing needs Department Collaboration: Work closely with accounting, warehouse, and supervisory staff to ensure smooth purchasing operations Interested in learning more.

Overtime and travel may be required, as needed Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,827.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
