This position will report to the Director of Grid Integration and will work closely with the Development and Execution teams through the lifecycle of the interconnection process.
What you'll do:
  • Lead grid integration analysis and interconnection studies to support distributed generation scale solar, solar/storage, and stand-alone storage projects
  • Evaluate grid capacity, constraints, and interconnection feasibility across multiple states and utility territories
  • Collaborate with utilities, ISOs, and regulatory agencies to navigate interconnection processes and ensure compliance with applicable NERC, FERC, and local grid requirements
  • Support the design, modeling, and optimization of transmission and distribution infrastructure for renewable energy projects
  • Analyze power flow, stability, and grid congestion to identify risks and mitigation strategies for project development
  • Assess grid interconnection impacts on project feasibility and financial modeling
  • Provide technical expertise on grid interconnection requirements, transmission/distribution planning, and regulatory approvals
  • Support site acquisition with information on grid capacity
  • Develop single and three-line diagrams
  • Maintain knowledge tariffs and technical standards at the utility scale projects
  • Analyze feasibility, system impact and facility studies for cost reductions and potential schedule acceleration
  • Negotiate system upgrade alternatives for cost, and timelines
  • Negotiate Interconnection Service Agreements
  • Perform site visits periodically over the course of the projects
  • Track technological advancements and drive adoption, as applicable
  • Support pre-construction team with interconnection requirements
  • Support construction team with equipment changes and utility schedules

Qualifications:
  • 6-8+ years of relevant DG grid connection experience, Transmission, ISO and RTO experience (ISO-NE, NYISO in particular) is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; Master's degree in electrical engineering or relevant power-related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of distribution and transmission systems and grid interconnection processes, including power flow analysis, stability studies, and congestion management
  • Experience working with ISOs/RTOs and utilities on interconnection applications, distribution planning, transmission planning, and regulatory compliance (NERC, FERC, PUCs)
  • Proficiency with modeling and analysis tools (e.g., PSSE, PSCAD, PowerWorld, or similar) to assess project feasibility and grid impact
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills

Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, licenses/certifications, essential job duties, and the necessary experience relative to the job's minimum qualifications.
