Job description

Production Assistants work directly with the Production Manager, Technical Services Manager and Stage Manager and under their guidance are responsible for setting up and supporting technical systems and managing backstage operations in the Performing Arts Center (Concert Hall and Black Box Theatre). This involves working with staging, lighting, sound, video, artist hospitality and backstage security. Production assistants regularly interact with professional artists and staff appearing at the PAC. Much of the work takes place in a fast-paced event production environment. Audio - sound reinforcement

Participate in stage set ups for sound check and performances.

Run and strike cables, set up microphones, loudspeakers, stage monitors, mixing consoles and related audio reinforcement equipment required for performing artists.

Also involves operation of digital sound consoles.

Video

Operate video camera controls, video projectors and production video system.

Act as video director calling camera cues during programs and performances.

Lighting

Participate in stage set ups for sound check and performances.

Run cables, set up lighting equipment, focus show lighting instruments and replace color media.

Also involves operation of digital lighting control equipment.

Stage Production

Assist with load in/out of musical instruments, audio and lighting equipment.

Set up music stands, draperies, projection equipment and other materials required for programs and performances.

Work directly with the Stage Manager to perform stage turns during performances.

Artist Hospitality

Act as direct liaison between performing artists and PAC staff.

Set up and maintain Green Room and dressing room hospitality and amenities according to requirements outlined in artist contract riders.

Interface with artists and management to ensure successful backstage experiences.

Maintain artist Green Room and hospitality supplies.

Backstage security

Monitor entrance to the artist door and backstage areas ensuring only authorized personnel are admitted.

Check artist and staff lists and distribute backstage credentials maintaining a secure backstage environment during sound checks and performances.

Schedule:

Evenings & Weekends (most events are Friday-Sunday)

10-20 hours per week (dependent upon event schedule)
