Job description

Stage Crew Student Activities Director

Great Valley High School

Base salary $3867.00* 

Position Summary

The High School Stage Crew Director Student Activities is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of school events held in the auditorium and other performance spaces. This position ensures high-quality sound, lighting, and stage operations for both daytime and evening events.

The Stage Crew Director reports directly to the Principal and the Student Activities Director and plays a key role in supporting student programs, performances, and school-wide events. This position does not provide technical support or services for Drama Guild productions or events.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Production & Event Support

  • Provide technical support for all school assemblies, speakers, and events during the school day
  • Operate and manage auditorium systems, including:
    • Lighting
    • Sound systems
    • Microphones
    • Stage equipment
  • Coordinate and execute technical needs for:
    • Student council speeches and presentations
    • Guest speakers and assemblies
    • Orientation meetings
    • Graduation ceremonies

Evening & Performance Support

  • Provide technical direction and support for evening events, including:
    • Choir concerts
    • Orchestra performances
    • Band concerts
    • School-sponsored activities and special events (i.e Mr. Great Valley, )
  • Ensure proper setup, execution, and breakdown for all performances

Note: Drama Guild productions and related events are not included in the responsibilities of this position.

Stage Crew Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise student stage crew members who will support student activities
  • Provide instruction on safe and effective use of technical equipment
  • Develop student leadership within the stage crew program

Equipment & Facility Oversight

  • Maintain and troubleshoot auditorium equipment and systems
  • Coordinate repairs and upgrades as needed
  • Ensure safe operation and storage of all technical equipment

Qualifications

  • Experience with stage lighting, sound systems, and live event production
  • Ability to manage multiple events and technical setups efficiently
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting preferred

Work Schedule Requirements

  • Must be available during the school day to support assemblies and events
  • Required availability for evening events, performances, and special programs

*Due to the current negotiations of the Collection Bargaining Agreement (CBA), an adjustment may need to be made for EDR stipends. If so, they will be adjusted after the CBA is ratified.
