POSITION PURPOSE

  • We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Nurse Coordinator supporting the Trinity Health Livingston Emergency Department in Brighton MI.

  • The Nurse Coordinator plays a vital leadership role in delivering safe, high-quality care and ensuring smooth day-to-day unit operations in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.

  • The Trinity Health Livingston ED is a 38 bed Level 4 Trauma ER that provides comprehensive emergency care to patients of all ages treating over 100 patients daily. The ED offers a fast-paced, high-acuity environment that requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and teamwork. Learn more about our ED Online.

  • This position is Full-Time, scheduled 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday day shift. Participation in an on-call rotation is required for this role.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Michigan Nursing License

  • Graduation from accredited nursing program: BSN Required

  • Minimum of three years staff experience.

  • One-year related practice experience in clinical area.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Day-to-Day Operations & Leadership: The Nurse Coordinator assumes delegated accountability from the Nurse Manager for staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, and operational oversight. This is a frontline leadership position that combines clinical expertise with team support and resource management.

  • Charge Nurse Leadership: Function as the Charge Nurse and operational lead during assigned shifts.

  • Daily Unit Rounds: Lead weekday rounds to review patient status, staffing, and care planning with the interdisciplinary team.

  • Patient Assignments & Workflow: Prepare the daily agenda, assign nurse/tech teams, set break schedules, and organize overall workflow for the unit.

  • Staffing & Scheduling Support: Assist in forecasting staffing needs and adjusting schedules based on patient census and acuity.

  • Admissions Oversight: Review new admissions for clinical appropriateness and coordinate necessary accommodations for care.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Maintain regular dialogue with the Nurse Manager and Nurse Educator to align on priorities, implement initiatives, and support staff development.

  • Mentorship & Team Development: Coach and support staff, model professional behavior, and resolve conflicts using Relationship-Based Care principles.

  • Operational Awareness: Be familiar with the unit's budget and the volume-adjusted staffing model to support effective resource use.

  • Joint Commission Preparation: Actively participate in preparing the unit for the upcoming Joint Commission (JC) survey, including implementing and reinforcing standards, protocols, and compliance measures.
