What are we looking for?

The Geotechnical Staff Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of assignments that include preparation of proposals, drilling plans and laboratory assignments. Staff Engineers carry out independent evaluations using standard techniques, procedures and engineering theory using judgement to make minor adoptions and modifications of these standards under the direction of senior engineering staff.

What you'll do:

  • Prepares preliminary scopes, budgets, proposals and schedules for projects.
  • Prepares preliminary and design-level geotechnical reports for projects as per specifications.
  • Prepares field exploration assignments and files utility clearance tickets for drilling.
  • Attends client site meetings.
  • Communicates effectively with client and project teams.
  • Works on multiple projects concurrently.
  • May perform on-site observations or inspections.
  • Carry out engineering calculations and computer modeling using engineering software
  • Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited/ABET school is required
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required
  • The ability to read and understand work plans is required
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering degree is preferred
  • 4 years' progressive geotechnical engineering experience preferred
  • PE Registration or EIT/EI Certification is preferred
