About the Opportunity

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its finance team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations with a strong emphasis on accounts receivable, grant-related accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a nonprofit environment, possess strong Sage Intacct skills, and be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a collaborative setting.

I. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoice generation, cash application, collections follow-up, and account reconciliation.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Support grant and program accounting by tracking revenues, expenditures, and funding allocations.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, and other general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for leadership and external auditors.
  • Collaborate with program managers and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and respond to auditor requests as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

II. Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Accounts Receivable and account reconciliations.
  • Experience using Sage Intacct.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with grant accounting or restricted funding.
  • Exposure to audit support and financial reporting processes.
