Job description

Summary

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., makers of Yellawood brand Pressure Treated Pine, is seeking a Stacker Operator. This position will be responsible for operating the stacker machine and ensuring boards are being stacked uniformly. This is a full-time position offering competitive pay and a full benefits package.

Essential Duties:
  • Observes all safety requirements, including Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Daily performance of preventative maintenance on stacker equipment and identifying potential mechanical issues, keeping equipment in condition to effectively meet goals.
  • Inspects wood products during machining and upon completion.
  • Maintains equipment and work area cleanly and safely.
  • Recommends changes to improve processes and procedures, improving quality and productivity.
  • Collects production data as required and inspects own work.
  • Identify opportunities for process, quality, and safety improvements.
  • Support quality expectations, and demonstrate an understanding of the impacts of quality on productivity.
  • Demonstrate understanding of stacker operations, including proper production levels, safety, and basic care.
  • Communicate effectively with employees at various organizational levels, including production, maintenance, supervisory and corporate staff, to report any issues that impact safety, quality, or production.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste materials on completion of job operations.
  • Sort and arrange lumber, timbers, and finished goods according to sizes and grades to allow for easy identification.
Education and/or Experience:
  • No prior experience or training. High School diploma or GED preferred.
