Job description

Founded in 1986, St. Charles Community College (SCC) has a reputation as one of the best two-year colleges in the state of Missouri. SCC's service area includes a six-county region with a population exceeding 540,000. SCC's main campus, located in Cottleville, has won architectural awards for its innovative, contemporary design. The college's Dardenne Creek Campus features the Center for Healthy Living and the Field to Table Institute. With a focus on innovation, St. Charles Community College is a leader in delivering high quality education in a state-of-the-art learning environment. St. Charles Community College seeks a part-time Health Occupations-CNA Instructor to join our talent pool who will instruct students in direct patient care skills. This position includes online didactic instruction, as well as lab instruction, and clinical supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Works in collaboration with the Health Occ Navigator and Program Coordinator to ensure appropriate coordination of the CNA program.
  • Conduct necessary instruction within the classroom and online and supervise the clinical shift rotations.
  • Conduct effective instruction in all assigned areas, using approved course outlines.
  • Develop and maintain current course syllabi/outlines for assigned courses.
  • Measure and evaluate student progress and maintain accurate grade computations. Submit grade reports to supervisor according to designated timelines.
  • Enforce all St. Charles Community College student policies.
  • Provide students with written course expectations, including course objectives, attendance policy, methods of evaluation, and grading practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing with transcripts
  • Proof of approval from The Department of Health and Senior Services to teach CNA courses, in the state of Missouri- MO CNA Instructor Certificate
  • Active, unencumbered, RN nursing license in the state of Missouri
  • Two years of nursing experience, one of which MUST be in the provision of long-term care
  • Ability and flexibility to supervise weekend clinical shifts
  • Candidates must be self-directed, able to handle multiple projects at a time, and able to work with minimal supervision under the direction of the program coordinator
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing healthcare personnel and their training
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Instructor should demonstrate continuous attention to detail
  • Must maintain current undisciplined MO RN license.
  • Valid Driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CNA teaching experience
  • Canvas educational format experience
  • Current clinical supervisor approval with the state of Missouri
