Summary or Description:
Typically manages specialized, complex (high-impact) single projects or multiple, but similar type projects. This includes small and medium projects or a portion of a large or mega project. Develops and oversees project plans, including business, production, and/or organizational priorities. Produces integrated solutions to strategic issues and presents recommendations to customers. Solutions are derived from knowledge gained through past experiences and consultation with internal and external resources. May serve as a proposal manager for small to medium projects.
Purpose:
Provides direction and project management to ensure project completion in accordance with contractual obligations. Defines project goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of customer objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. Plans, organizes, manages, and controls projects with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the Worley. Supervises project personnel through subordinate leaders. Project managers will exhibit leadership skills necessary to achieve project goals.
Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
  • Understands and embraces Life.
  • Demonstrates full commitment to all health and safety matters and provides safety leadership to project team.
  • Satisfies all requirements of project safety compliance including Safety by Design, Constructability and Maintainability.
  • Has led or participated in Constructability, Operability and Maintainability Workshops.

Leadership
  • Defines and selects team required to deliver scope of work.
  • Effectively leads project team comprised of multi-discipline/ multi-location members.
  • Sets clear objectives for the project team including scope, schedule, productivity and budget targets.
  • Oversees, motivates and monitors the performance of the team, ensuring quality and timeliness of assignments and roles, and addresses any performance gaps.
  • Implements communication tools and process to ensure all team members are informed about project status and key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build support for ideas, presenting alternatives and recommendations persuasively.

Technical Expertise
  • Ensures Worley methodologies, processes, tools and systems are used throughout the project and compliance requirements are met/satisfied.
  • Applies knowledge of all aspects of a project (engineering, procurement, quality control, etc.) to oversee the successful execution of the project plan.
  • Ensures design team is aware and complying with customer Basis of Design and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering project delivery workflow and coordination.
  • Experience with procurement/subcontracting and on-site construction support.
  • Has completed a full project from start to finish and spent time supporting the field to implement what was engineered.

Financial Acumen
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of customer contract to the oversight and management of the project.
  • Strong understanding and application of business drivers, financial reporting standards.
  • Tracks cost and schedule and uses analytical skill to forecast trends.
  • Project deliverables and design quantities are tracked and analysed.
  • Understands project cost buildup including gross margin together with risks that may erode margin and opportunities to improve margin.
  • Ensures proper change control processes are understood and used by the project team.
  • Manages cash flow requirements, including accounts receivable, and work in progress to minimize days sales outstanding (DSO).

Execution Planning & Performance
  • Experienced in developing/reviewing Project Execution Plan covering all aspects of the scope.
  • Applies lessons learned as inputs to planning the project execution.
  • Manages execution, coordination, and implements regular reviews/controls to track project progress.
  • Good understanding of Project Control Reports, identifies problem areas and implements recovery plans.
  • Interprets and understands key elements of the project schedule and resource plan.
  • Incorporates Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions objectives into project plan, measures and delivers to objectives.
  • Experienced in successful workshare execution.

Communication & Networking
  • Effectively communicate and take a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports to staff and management.
  • Implements clear communication protocols, processes and tools for the project team.
  • Clearly communicates project requirements, contractual requirements, customer expectation, KPI and project status with project team.
  • Creates an environment for open communication and builds high performing team on trust and respect.
  • Resolves issues and conflicts within the project team including customer.
  • Effectively relates with people across levels, functions, geography and cultures.
  • Works collaboratively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.

Customer & Stakeholder Management
  • Identifies and understands the customer's key drivers (KPIs).
  • Manages customer representatives and other significant stakeholders.
  • Manages and nurtures customer and stakeholder relationship based on established expectations and communication protocols.
  • Develops a relationship of trust and respect with ability to discuss project progress, challenges and issues in a transparent manner.

Risk & Opportunity Management
  • Understands commercial and legal risks in the contract, prepares and manages mitigation plans.
  • Identifies potential risks or new risks as the project progresses and effectively develops risk mitigation, contingency and resolution plans.
  • Follows Worley risk management procedures.
  • Keeps detailed risk register that stays current and is tracked & communicated on a regular basis (at least monthly).
  • Utilizes Risk Register items as the basis for any project contingency budget.

What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
  • Typically 15+ years experience, including 12+ years of relevant supervisory, project management and/or technical experience; Workshare experience; E, EP Project experience.
  • Demonstrated PM experience leading medium and large projects with medium and high risk elements; EPCM, EPC including site assignments; Multi-Cultural / Multi-National environments.
  • Previous experience managing combined cycle power plant projects is required.

Decision Making
  • Makes independent decisions and recommendations in the course of managing a project. Broad knowledge of functional area and ability to implement and lead organizational project change effectively. Solutions are derived from interpreted and applied general information and consultation with other individuals.

Supervision Received
  • Works with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance. Influence over duties. Receives administrative direction based on project and organization policies and objectives. Work is reviewed to ensure conformity with project directives, policy and for coordination of other Worley departments.

Supervision Authority
  • Assigns project work and gives technical guidance to people assigned to work on medium to large sized projects. Reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy. May have direct and indirect reports and authority for performance evaluations impacting pay. May make recommendations concerning selection, training, rating and discipline of people.

Systems & Tools (Essential)
  • Advanced understanding of systems, processes and tools related to field. Able to assist others and troubleshoot issues. Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint. Can organize information from many sources and retain as per the prescribed format and policies.

Systems & Tools (Desirable)
  • May be involved in the development of new systems, processes and tools; Competent in Microsoft Access and Visio.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
  • University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred:
  • Professional registration in local jurisdiction; Certified Program Management Professional by a globally recognized project management organization (IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM).
