The Times Square Fellows Program provides exceptional students or recent graduates interested in public service with the opportunity to work within one of the country's most respected and high-profile non-profits. Fellowships are paid and are full-time for the summer. Times Square Fellows are assigned to a department to assist with and advance major projects or initiatives. In addition, a core part of the program is regular professional development programming, which includes talks with senior Alliance staff as well as community, civic and governmental leaders.
Fellows are eligible to work in various areas, some of which can include Operations, Administration, Communications, Policy, Planning and Research, Public Space Management, Public Arts, and Government Affairs. Applicants must specify their first and second fellowship preferences when completing their application. Below are descriptions of each fellowship for Summer 2026.
Please review before APPLYING THROUGH THE FOLLOWING LINK ONLY: https://timessquarenyc.hire.trakstar.com/jobs/fk0iq5/
The Fellowship is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates (no earlier than December 2025) and pays $20/hr. A monthly transit stipend is also available. The application deadline is Friday March 13, 2026 and interviews will take place between Monday March 16 - Friday March 27, 2026.
Partnerships + Public Art Fellowship *(APPLICATION DEADLINE 3/20/26)*
The Alliance's Partnerships team oversees sponsorships for the organization's annual signature events and fundraising for Times Square Arts' public art program. The Partnerships Fellow will work on assignments supporting prospect research and strategy, with a focus on expanding sponsorship outreach for events (such as Solstice in Times Square and TSQ Live) and philanthropic support for Times Square Arts. Projects will include developing compelling writing supporting upcoming public art projects, creating outreach materials for marquee events, conducting research to analyze sponsorship offerings and public art initiatives in the field, and identifying new partnership opportunities and strategies. Candidates should have an interest in fundraising, public art, and event planning, and an enthusiasm for the Times Square Alliance's mission.
Events & Programming Fellowship (Event Planning/Production)
The Alliance actively works to make Times Square an exciting and desirable destination through our various, accessible programming initiatives from the iconic New Year's Eve celebration to our annual Solstice in Times Square yoga event and our programming series, TSQ LIVE.
TSQ LIVE features free concerts, DJ sets, jazz performances, dance workshops, and more, 4 days a week from the beginning of May through the end of September. One key objective of the Alliance's programming is to draw people to the neighborhood and its businesses throughout the year. Throughout the past four seasons, TSQ LIVE has had the honor of hosting local and internationally acclaimed talent such as Mรฅneskin, The Warning, 5 Seconds of Summer, Sammy Virji, Elvis Crespo, Mike Posner, and many more.
The Events & Programming Department works to "choreograph the chaos" of Times Square and is seeking an individual to serve as the Events & Programming Fellow. This individual will work closely with both our Senior Events & Programming Manager and our Senior Director of Events & Programming in the growth and execution of our fifth season of TSQ LIVE. The Events & Programming Fellow will focus heavily on the day-to-day logistics of all TSQ LIVE events, as well as our signature events, Solstice in Times Square and Taste of Times Square. This is a very active, hands-on role that requires quick problem-solving skills, a self-starter mentality, and strong attention to detail. Other assignments include pre-production event preparation and research into untapped, diverse public offerings for future consideration.
Policy Planning & Research Fellowship
The Times Square Alliance's Policy, Planning and Research department has planned and executed some of the most prominent placemaking and capital development initiatives in New York City, including the reconstruction of Father Duffy Square and the Broadway pedestrian plazas. The team has also built one of the most comprehensive urban research and data analysis programs and uses research to develop and advocate for innovative urban economic development and management policies that are informed by evidence and challenge accepted norms and practices. The department has also been involved with an array of advocacy efforts that have resulted in innovative pedestrian and traffic improvements and newer and more appropriate regulation of the public realm. The Times Square Alliance is seeking a highly motivated Policy & Research Fellow interested in the growth and evolution of cities and urban and public policy to help us manage, evaluate and advocate for Times Square.
Digital Marketing Fellowship
The Digital Marketing Fellow will join our Communications department to help build and execute content on our social and digital marketing channels. We are seeking a creative storyteller who understands how to connect with social audiences through engaging copy, images and video. The Digital Marketing Fellow will coordinate content across our social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and YouTube), drive engagement, and actualize their own ideas for campaigns and content. These projects could include capturing the experience of load-in or tech for a Broadway show; interviewing historians and capturing the history of Times Square's seedy past; or exploring the creative process behind public art works in Times Square. The Fellow will work alongside the Communications and Events teams to capture content and create social media coverage of major Alliance events including Solstice and Pride, as well as TSQ LIVE, our summer series that features outdoor concerts and performances four nights a week in Times Square. The Fellow will also learn how they can use data and analytics to create reports and evaluate campaigns. Candidates must have strong communication skills, experience with social media, an interest in video production, some experience with graphic design especially with Adobe Creative Suite, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Operations-Plaza Fellowship
The Operations Department works to "keep the engine of Times Square going". The Operations Department is currently seeking a highly motivated, scrappy Operations-Plaza Fellow to work closely with the Operations Department in assisting with plaza event planning, to improve quality of life issues, public safety, sanitation processes, and implementation of programming & event needs in the public space. In Times Square every day is different; therefore, being flexible and hands-on with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are extremely important. Possible projects may range from database management for recording and addressing conditions important to the district, to work force analysis, to assisting with projects related to the maintenance and operation of the department and Times Square district. The fellow will also become responsible for preparing the weekly Operations & Production schedule that is distributed to all Public Safety and Sanitation supervisors. This position is not only an office position - a lot of time will be spent outside in theelements surveying and addressing issues within the Broadway Pedestrian Plazas and around the district.
Stakeholder Services Fellowship:
The Stakeholder Services Fellow will work to build and maintain strong relationships with the businesses, employees, residents, and other stakeholders of Times Square. We are seeking an engaging communicator who is excited to connect with our constituency through direct outreach. The Fellow will be encouraged to research, develop and pursue creative ideas for community engagement. The Fellow will be trained to update our stakeholder data on Salesforce, and to create and evaluate reports for various communications and opportunities with our constituent groups. They will work with us on projects to support the overall level of safety, cleanliness, success, and sense of pride among our constituents. These projects may include a range of activities such as supporting the grand opening of a new business; updating stakeholders on outdoor dining guidelines and other city regulations; and coordinating events and connecting with businesses on district walks. They will help craft communications related to the Alliance's signature events and broader strategies like the Alliance's advocacy agenda. The fellow will potentially collaborate on projects with other teams to learn about the range of services the organization provides and how it uses cross-departmental techniques to serve the various needs of the district. Applicants with a passion for community development, communications, or economic development are encouraged to apply. Strong writing and editing skills, Salesforce experience, an interest in DEI, and an ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment are a plus. Mandarin speaker a bonus!
