Job Title: SSIS & SQL Server Support Engineer
Location: Hybrid at Scottsdale, AZ or Hartford, CT
  • Enhance, support, troubleshoot, and optimize SSIS packages and SQL Server ETL workflows, requiring strong skills in package debugging, logging, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with development and data engineering teams to enhance ETL design, applying knowledge of data warehousing concepts.
  • Diagnose and resolve production SQL Server issues, leveraging expertise in T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
  • Maintain SQL Agent jobs, ETL schedules, and data pipelines, using advanced knowledge of job orchestration and failure handling.
  • Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) for recurring or high-impact incidents, applying deep understanding of SQL Server internals, query optimization, and SSIS architecture.
  • Validate, reconcile, and correct data issues across staging, warehouse, and downstream systems, requiring strong analytical and data-quality skills.
  • Implement performance improvements and permanent fixes using SQL tuning, SSIS refactoring, and automation tools.
  • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and SOPs, demonstrating strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Support environment changes, deployments, and patching activities, requiring familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
  • Use monitoring tools (SQL Profiler, Extended Events, SolarWinds, or similar) to proactively identify performance issues and prevent outages.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $90-109K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
