Nurse Assistant

Job Title: Nurse Assistant Reports To: Building Principal Classification: Paraprofessional (Clerical/Teacher Assistant) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 195 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Paraprofessional/Administrative Support Staff, Pay Grade 203 Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Responsible for routine duties related to the operation of the school clinic. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software.
  • Ability to work effectively with people.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Nurse Support:
  • Administer basic first aid and care to ill and injured students according to district policy.
  • Refer specific student health problems and concerns, including consultation for the ill or injured student, to the assigned school nurse.
  • Perform health screenings according to district and state guidelines.
  • Assist the assigned school nurse in preparations for health teaching activities.

Clerical Support:

ย 
  • Assist in enforcing immunization statutes and prepare cumulative health records for new students.
  • Maintain clinic inventory and ensure a healthful clinic environment.
  • Update and maintain medical records for students at regular and/or required intervals.
  • Process health information via computer system.
Other:
  • Serve as liaison between school, home and community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
None Equipment Used: Computer and various office equipment. Working Conditions: Mental Demands:
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.
  • This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
Physical Demands:
  • Repetitive hand motions.
  • Prolonged use of the computer.
  • Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
  • Moving small boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
