Job description

SUMMARY  

Mortenson is seeking an Apprenticeship Carpentry Lead Trainer responsible for the coordination, instruction, classroom, and field management of the Mortenson Registered Apprenticeship Program. This role serves as a subject matter expert for the delivery of Carpentry and Concrete curriculum and the primary contact for their representative Operating Group leadership teams for the Apprenticeship Program.

Note: This role requires travel of approximately 75%

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Deliver carpentry and concrete focused NCCER modules, assessments and performance profiles 

  • Partner with project leadership and project-based instructors to schedule classroom instruction, online assessments and solar mechanical focused field evaluations

  • Ensure tools, books and other necessary resources are available for all sessions

  • Manage, mentor and audit project-based instructors, performance evaluators and proctors

  • Collaborate with project teams to create project training plans including schedules and selection of Construction Laborer apprentices

  • Partner with Apprenticeship Program Manager and HR Coordinator on completion, tracking and storage of required Carpentry and Concrete program documentation

  • Assist with the administration of new apprentice registration documents as needed

  • Utilize effective presentation skills including creative training techniques and adult learning techniques

  • Actively participate in carpentry and concrete subject matter review committees with NCCER and other organizations

  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 4 or more years of licensed, journey or technician-level knowledge and skills in carpentry, concrete, or similar trade

  • Ability to travel up to 75% 

  • Successful completion of NCCER ICTP 

  • Exposure to OSHA training requirements

  • Exposure to NCCER curriculum preferred

  • Classroom training facilitation experience preferred

  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency 

  • Advanced communication, presentation and classroom training facilitation skills

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional methodology

  • Basic computer and software skills (Microsoft applications)

  • Ability to connect with and influence apprentices and other stakeholders

  • Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback

  • Current drivers license

The base pay range for this role is $78,700 - $106,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
