General Summary
La Jolla Group is seeking a highly organized, service-oriented Manager of Logistics & Trade Compliance to own day-to-day inbound import shipment execution, drayage coordination, distribution center receiving alignment, shipment data accuracy, reporting, and import compliance support across our brand portfolio.
This role serves as the primary owner for inbound import logistics execution, ensuring shipments move efficiently from vendor handoff through final delivery to La Jolla Group distribution centers. The position coordinates closely with vendors, vendor agents, customs brokers, freight forwarders, drayage providers, distribution center receiving teams, and internal partners in Production, Finance, and leadership..
Essential Job Functions
  • Own inbound import logistics execution from vendor handoff through delivery to La Jolla Group distribution centers.
  • Coordinate with vendors, vendor agents, customs brokers, freight forwarders, drayage providers, and distribution center receiving teams to support shipment visibility, delivery performance, and issue resolution.
  • Support alignment between logistics activity, distribution center receiving priorities, production needs, and business priorities.
  • Communicate shipment risks, delays, exceptions, and resolution updates to internal stakeholders with clear follow-through.
  • Support La Jolla Group's primarily vendor-routed inbound shipment model while coordinating LJG-routed shipments as needed.
  • Provide logistics guidance related to routing expectations, documentation standards, and delivery coordination.
  • Partner with customs brokers to support compliant import activity and resolve import compliance, documentation, and broker-related inquiries.
  • Review key import documentation, including CBP Form 7501, for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain working familiarity with ACE reporting, broker entry data, ISF, HTS classification, country of origin, import recordkeeping requirements, and customs/tariff compliance considerations.
  • Coordinate seasonal HTS classification reviews with the broker compliance team and communicate potential duty, tariff, classification, or documentation impacts to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain shipment reporting, tracking tools, and operational dashboards to support visibility and decision-making.
  • Analyze shipment performance, vendor logistics performance, drayage activity, cost trends, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain SOPs, routing instructions, vendor requirements, drayage procedures, and desk procedures.
  • Deliver strong internal and external customer service through proactive communication, issue ownership, and timely follow-up.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of inbound import logistics execution, drayage coordination, shipment visibility, and delivery coordination.
  • Strong understanding of Incoterms and working knowledge of international transportation modes.
  • Working knowledge of import documentation, customs clearance, ISF, HTS classification, country of origin, customs entry requirements, broker clearance processes, and customs/tariff compliance considerations.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with vendors, vendor agents, customs brokers, freight forwarders, drayage providers, distribution center teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Skill in maintaining shipment reporting, tracking tools, operational dashboards, SOPs, and process documentation.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills, including pivot tables, lookups, reporting, and data accuracy management.
  • Ability to identify recurring service, process, or documentation gaps and recommend practical process improvements.
  • Strong customer service orientation, communication, follow-up, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently in a hands-on operational role.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and proactively with coworkers, vendors, logistics providers, and leadership.

Required Education and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in import logistics, drayage coordination, or a related supply chain function.
  • Experience managing daily inbound shipment execution in a hands-on operational role.
  • Experience with import documentation, customs clearance, ISF, HTS classification, country of origin, customs entry requirements, broker clearance processes, and customs/tariff compliance considerations.
  • Apparel, footwear, accessories, consumer products, wholesale distribution, or multi-brand experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting seasonal product flow, seasonal logistics planning, or seasonal HTS classification reviews preferred.
  • Experience reviewing or auditing CBP Form 7501 entries and familiarity with duty rates, tariff changes, broker compliance reviews, import recordkeeping, Duty Drawback, and ACE reporting preferred.
  • Familiarity with Full Circle ERP and PLM systems preferred.

Customs Broker License or trade compliance certification is a plus, but not required.

This is a Hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in our Irvine, CA office.
