Job Summary

Flyers Charities, the nonprofit of the Philadelphia Flyers, is looking for an outgoing intern interested in learning the fundamentals of nonprofit work. The intern will be involved in different aspects of the charity including administrative duties, event logistics, marketing, and fundraising.
Candidates must be able to communicate clearly, collaborate on projects, take initiative on tasks, and possess exceptional customer service skills. Candidates must also be able to operate in fast-paced environment.
*This internship is paid and in-person in Philadelphia, runs from early September through mid-April, and is 20 hours per week.

Job Description

Qualifications:

  • College junior or senior or graduate student with a flexible schedule to work events and game nights.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, dependable, and collaborative.
  • Must have interest in nonprofits.
  • Must have a general working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Must be willing to get involved in projects with varying degrees of difficulty.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to Xfinity Mobile Arena, Flyers Training Center, and event venues.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Charitable Events:

  • Assist in the preparation of events, including Gritty 5K, Flyers Charities Carnival, Casino Night, and other community events.
  • Assist with day-of event set-up, troubleshooting, and clean-up of events.
  • Coordinate/Communicate with event sponsors for set-up/location of assets on an event-by-event basis

Online Auctions:

  • Assist with execution of online auctions, including collecting content, promoting bidding, communicating with winners, and fulfilling orders.

Game Nights:

  • Assist with game-night set-up of 50/50 fundraising program, including initial set-up and execution of 50/50 program and meeting with nightly winners to file paperwork
  • Set up and organize Community Corner table during Flyers home games.
  • Organize, promote, and sell Mystery Pucks at Flyers home games.
  • Promote charitable efforts and events during Flyers home games.
  • Be a face of Flyers Charities to answer questions about Charities initiatives.

Administrative:

  • Assist with signing days and transportation of items to and from Flyers Training Center.
  • Collaborate on projects with other departments.
  • Manage administrative office duties, such as collecting and distributing mail and answering phone and email inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation

Base Pay: $15.00

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
