Job Description: sporting goods


The Retail Store Clerk - in the Sporting Goods Department must offer excellent customer service and stock the Sporting Goods Department as well as perform other assigned duties to ensure the customer has an efficient, pleasant shopping experience.

Other assigned duties can include, but are not limited to:

  • Acknowledge and assist all customers with a pleasant, helpful attitude
  • Offer suggestions for additional products that could compliment or go with what the customer is already interested in
  • Stock shelves with back stock product and incoming freight for the day
  • Clearly and accurately price all merchandise for customers
  • Set and remove sale signs in a timely fashion and check for pricing accuracy
  • Maintain displays and face shelved products
  • Set merchandise counter displays and change floor plans
  • Utilize store computers to determine inventory levels, pricing and other functions
  • Clean retail area by dust mopping, removing trash and picking up litter
  • Return excess product to the warehouse
  • Move empty pallets to the warehouse and break down containers
  • Attach security tags to appropriate product
  • Help in other departments as assigned
  • Demonstrate awareness and compliance with loss prevention and safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Great Communication Skills and Customer Service
  • Prior retail and sporting goods experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to work evening shifts when needed and full shifts every other weekend

· Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

· Must be 18 years of age or older, but preferably 21 years of age or older

· Illinois residents must possess a valid FOID card and Iowa residents must comply with State guidelines concerning firearm handling
