Job Description

Sierra-Cedar is seeking motivated and experienced Splunk Technical Consultants. If you are passionate about technology, clients, and all the challenges and benefits that go with being a consultant, you will want to be a part of our team.  Sierra-Cedar Consultants have the skills and business savvy to provide exceptional consulting services to a diverse customer base, helping them gain the optimum benefit and value from their Splunk Enterprise Deployments. Sierra-Cedar is currently staffing consultants with expert knowledge in Assessment, Installation, Configuration, Deployment, Reporting and Upgrading. 

This position requires 75-100% travel with projects executed on-site at Sierra-Cedar client locations nationwide.  Consultants can live anywhere in the US as long as they can travel to client sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities   

  • Provides Splunk technical and infrastructure consulting services to clients
  • Completes tasks in an efficient and timely manner reporting progress to the implementation Project Manager, Engagement Manager and Vendor
  • Seeks innovative ways to improve the process of delivering solutions to clients
  • Shares suggestions and knowledge capital to help optimize Sierra-Cedar's implementation methodology
  • Enable and coach clients to support their Splunk deployments

Required Skills   

  • Solid understanding and work experience as a technical consultant and/or lead
  • Minimum of 2 years current, hands-on Splunk technical infrastructure experience
  • Splunk version 5.0 or greater experience required, upgrade and implementation experience is desired
  • Experience with Splunk Searching and Reporting, Knowledge Objects, Administration, Add-On's, Dashboards, Clustering and Forwarder Management
  • Prior System Administrator experience
  • Internet and Web technology understanding
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems quickly

Optional Skills   

  • Knowledge of scripting and application development languages (e.g., java, python, .NET, bash)
  • Experience with UNIX and Windows operating systems
  • Exposure to technical and application areas which may include PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle database administration, Microsoft SQL Server, Weblogic, upgrades, installations, database tuning, and architecture.
  • Experience with technical consulting, big data and/ or statistical and analytical modeling
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to other technical staff members as well as non-technical members of the organization
  • Strategic thinking
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are essential
  • Splunk Certifications: Certified Architect, Certified Consultant I, Certified Consultant II (Any one or more are highly desired)
