Location: Williamsburg, VA

Compensation: $30โ€“33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Schedule: Three days per week, 11:00 AMโ€“6:00 PM โ€” days can be arranged on any combination of weekdays (Mondayโ€“Friday) to accommodate the right candidate | Long Term

Guaranteed Hours: 21 hours per week

Position Overview

A family in Williamsburg is seeking a kind, compassionate, patient, and experienced Special Needs Nanny / Family Assistant to care for two children, ages 8 and 11. One child is nonverbal and requires a caregiver who is comfortable providing attentive, hands-on support with patience, warmth, and consistency. The family is looking for a long-term, live-out caregiver who is loving, calm, proactive, dependable, and experienced supporting children with additional care needs. The ideal candidate will be able to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment while also assisting with family assistant responsibilities to help the home run smoothly. The family has two cats, so candidates should be comfortable working in a home with pets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, nurturing, and engaging care for two children, ages 8 and 11
  • Provide attentive support for a nonverbal child
  • Pick up from school and provide transportation as needed
  • Plan fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities and outings
  • Provide feeding and mealtime support
  • Assist with personal care needs, including diapering and bathing
  • Support daily routines, developmental activities, and fine motor skill-building
  • Transport to appointments or therapy as needed
  • Assist with children's laundry and keeping children's areas organized
  • Help with light household tidying and family assistant tasks
  • Assist with grocery shopping and helping the home run smoothly

Requirements

  • Special needs experience strongly preferred
  • Must be kind, compassionate, patient, and dependable
  • Must be comfortable providing hands-on personal care, including diapering and bathing
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required
  • CPR/First Aid certification required
  • Comfortable working in a home with cats
  • Must be proactive, organized, and able to think ahead
  • Must be able to provide 3โ€“5 professional references
