Specific Job Description:

RMSL is a growth company with an outstanding job opportunity for an Armaments Group Manager. This position is full-time, at-will exempt and will report to the Director of Engineering at RMSL.


Duties Include:

It is anticipated that time will be roughly split as:

  • 60% Special Projects Group Manager
  • 20% Marketing
  • 20% Business Development

Armaments and Applications Group Manager Responsibilities:

  • Effectively lead the development and testing of unique products, materials, and technologies for military, law enforcement, and commercial applications
  • Propose, develop, initiate and manage relevant IRAD efforts within the company
  • Mentor, guide and instruct technical staff to meet project requirements
  • Monitor project efforts, spending, and labor utilization throughout project efforts and report to
  • Solicit assistance from Team Leads and other Team Members to successfully complete specific project requirements.
  • Coordinate and complete engineering led tasks such as report writing, technical presentations (at customer and public meetings), and technical deliverable tracking.
  • Provide market research and insight for future business development efforts
  • Provide support throughout the Bid and Proposal process
  • Analyze and interpret experimental test data for design
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies between a test items theoretical performance and its real-world
  • Maintain records pertinent to the job
  • Participate in Engineering investigations to determine Root Cause/Corrective Action for process and product issues.
  • Document safe handling practices and test procedures/results
  • Cultivate a culture in which safety is held paramount
  • Instruct and assist with troubleshooting activities during testing or developmental operations
  • Handle energetic materials, armaments, and various weapon systems
  • Define and share capabilities in laboratory and field
  • Establish and track project milestones.

Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the CEO, Director of Engineering, Tech Fellows, and select RMSL employees to identify key business areas to maintain and/or grow
  • Within respective business areas, develop a plan to cultivate lasting relationships with key companies and/or individuals
  • Play an active role in identifying market openings for which IRAD funding should be allocated
  • Nurture existing customer relationships in hopes of receiving future work
  • Continually assess RMSL's value proposition across existing and potential markets
  • Conduct market analysis and feasibility studies, establish projected project ROIs
  • Collaborate to define, build and communicate RMSLs capabilities to meet business needs and opportunities
  • Play an active role in RMSL's proposal process

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Identify and propose marketing events, trade shows, demos in line with RMSL's Business Development strategy
  • Coordinate activities, staffing, and resources to support marketing activities
  • Develop and maintain RMSL's website to offer a broader market appeal in-line with the business development strategy
  • Create or coordinate marketing materials, brochures, signage, etc to support marketing efforts
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote current and future RMSL products, capabilities, and services
  • Conduct customer demos at customer and RMSL site locations
  • Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives, Quality Objectives, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Safety Initiatives.
  • Design, coordinate, and execute test plans and procedures that meet internal and external customer requirements
  • Interface with RMSL customers, teammates, and partners in a professional and effective manner


Required Skills:

  • Experience in the application, design, testing and improvement of energetic articles, ammunition, or similar products
  • Familiarity with Government contracting requirements
  • Experience with various firearms
  • Willingness and ability to establish and grow an industry network

    • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.; must have the ability to see near and far and work with a computer monitor

Highly Beneficial Skills:

  • Military or law enforcement background.
  • Long range shooting experience (sniper training, infantry, hunting etc.).
  • Tactical experience/training (CQB, CQC, MOUT, SWAT etc.).
  • Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD)
  • Breaching
  • Explosive charge development
  • Warhead and/or fusing experience
  • Range Safety Officer experience (RSO)
  • Manufacturing engineering or production experience.
  • Experience with Quickload or other ballistic/propellant calculation software.
  • Hands-on experience with energetic materials.
  • Thorough understanding of a Design of Experiments (DOE) approach to troubleshooting/understanding.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas
    • Armament and munition development
    • Explosive Testing
    • Blasting


Minimum Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • BS + 4yrs in Mechanical Engineering (or similar demonstrated experience)
  • 2+ yrs of people/project management
