Retail Manager 

CASCADA Thermal Springs Spa and Hotel, Portland, Oregon 

Full-Time Salary 

Reports to: Director of Spa +Wellness 

CASCADA Thermal Springs and Hotel is a serene haven committed to sustainability. Our LEED Platinum-designed complex combines luxurious accommodations with state-of-the-art hydrothermal spa facilities, offering guests a holistic wellness experience in Portland's Alberta Arts District. Our mission is to foster connection, relaxation, and regeneration through thoughtful hospitality and immersive wellness programming. 

Role Overview 

The Retail Manager is a revenue-driving role focused on two critical growth areas for CASCADA: 

  • Retail Sales & Merchandising: growing boutique revenue through compelling product curation, visual merchandising, and guest-focused selling. 
  • Inventory & Operations: managing purchasing, stock levels, vendor relationships, and loss prevention to protect margin and product availability. 
  • Maintain a retail/wellness staff 

This role bridges our retail boutiques with the broader guest experience, ensuring product offerings, merchandising, and service are aligned, consistent, and guest centric. From curating on-brand product assortments to leading a high-performing sales team, this position helps CASCADA amplify its retail presence while delivering measurable business results. 

Working closely with the Director of Spa + Wellness, this role will: 

  • Lead day-to-day retail operations, ensuring the boutiques reflect CASCADA's brand and wellness ethos. 
  • Build and coach a retail team focused on guest service, product knowledge, and sales performance. 
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships to optimize product mix and profitability. 
  • Serve as a connective collaborator ensuring retail promotions support marketing and membership initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities 

Retail Operations & Merchandising 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the retail boutiques, ensuring a welcoming, well-organized, and on-brand shopping environment. 
  • Develop and execute visual merchandising strategies that highlight seasonal products, promotions, and new arrivals. 
  • Monitor stock levels, coordinate replenishment, and minimize shrinkage through effective inventory controls. 
  • Any other duties as assigned. 

Team Leadership 

  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise retail associates to ensure consistent, high-quality guest service. 
  • Set individual and team sales goals, coach staff on product knowledge and upselling techniques. 
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team culture aligned with CASCADA's hospitality standards. 

Sales & Revenue Growth 

  • Drive boutique sales performance against revenue targets, identifying opportunities to increase average transaction value and conversion. 
  • Partner with vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional opportunities alongside senior leadership. 
  • Analyze sales trends and guest preferences to inform purchasing decisions and product assortment. 

Guest Experience 

  • Ensure every guest interaction in the boutique reflects CASCADA's commitment to hospitality, wellness, and connection. 
  • Resolve guest concerns related to retail purchases, returns, and exchanges promptly and professionally. 
  • Communicate directly with guests and members alongside the membership team to promote retail offerings tied to their wellness journey. 
  • Work the retail and wellness desk spaces as required. 

Reporting & Insights 

  • Monitor and report sales, inventory, and margin performance to leadership. 
  • Track key metrics (sell-through rate, shrinkage, average transaction value) and recommend tactics to improve performance. 
  • Partner with marketing and membership teams to align retail promotions with campaigns and guest communications. 

Requirements

Qualifications 

  • 4+ years of retail management experience (hospitality, spa, or wellness industry preferred). 
  • Proven experience with point-of-sale (POS) and inventory management systems. 
  • Experience in trends, retail calendar ordering windows, seasonal items, etc. 
  • Strong leadership and team development skills with a track record of achieving sales targets. 
  • Analytical mindset with ability to measure success against revenue, margin, and guest satisfaction goals. 
  • Proactive, collaborative, and energized by creating exceptional guest experiences.
