The Allison Inn & Spa is Oregon wine country's only full-service resort. Located within the breathtaking natural splendor of the Willamette Valley, The Allison Inn & Spa presents an unparalleled experience of a luxury resort.  

JORY is the signature restaurant at The Allison Inn & Spa. Our creative fine dining menus accentuate the flavors of the Willamette Valley with a strong influence on seasonal, garden-to-table agriculture. 

At The Allison Inn & Spa our working philosophy is a commitment to strive for excellence in all we do.  We are a passionate and empowered team, inspired by our surroundings and community.  We are currently recruiting for a full-time AM JORY Restaurant Host, working the hours of 7am-3pm. Hourly wage is $16.80 per hour. This position is Tip/Tip Pooling Eligible. Please join our dedicated team who provide world class service and meaningful memories for our guests.

The Restaurant Host is a hospitality-minded individual with a personal and professional commitment to excellence and elevated service, and a consistent consideration for others.

As the first point of contact for guests the Host role is one of the most important, both property-wide and industry-wide. You exude professionalism and are inquisitive, resourceful, and thoughtful.

Strong candidates will have a growth mindset and be driven, proactive, anticipatory, and may be interested in developing into a leadership role. The Restaurant Host must be resourceful, thoughtful, considerate, and organized to best represent our dining outlets and culinary concepts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Graciously, politely, and confidently welcome guests and answer phones
  • Be a liaison between resort departments, front desk, and restaurant managers 
  • Showcase The Allison Inn & Spa's dining options for guests
  • Make accurate and complete reservations, and contact guests to confirm future reservations
  • Experience with online reservation systems or hospitality software.
  • Direct guest inquiries, thoughtfully answer questions, and follow-up on guest requests that require research and further information
  • Seat guests according to proper kitchen and dining room flow, and understand the strategic planning behind seating and table assignments
  • Have knowledge and familiarity with our culinary and beverage menus, and a willingness to deepen expertise in these areas
  • Be the first and primary point of contact for In Room Dining orders
  • Manage coat check service, and keep this space clean and orderly
  • Answer basic and general guest inquiries about services and onsite experiences in other divisions, such as The Spa
  • Conduct effective and hospitable service to guests on the telephone, and provide accurate and thorough phone messages to restaurant leadership
  • Other tasks will include completing side work, organizing and stocking the host desk, and serving as a liaison between restaurant managers and guests
  • Keep a neat, groomed, professional appearance as per The Allison guidelines. Be in a proper, clean, well-maintained uniform at all times.
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness per Jory and Oregon state health guidelines.
  • Follow service guidelines through the complete meal service.
  • Any additional duties assigned by management

Job Skills/Requirements/Qualifications

  • Required experience: 1 year in a restaurant or in customer service
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Experience with online reservation systems or hospitality software.
  • An enthusiastic, positive demeanor and desire to provide exceptional guest service
  • Must be available to work Saturday and Sunday mornings and evenings, and holidays
  • Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, weekends, holidays, and blackout days
  • Adhere to The Allison Inn & Spa Food and Beverage grooming and appearance standards, or ability to adjust appearance accordingly
  • Successfully pass a background investigation  
  • Possess an OLCC Service Permit
  • Possess a Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of hire

Working conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and kneeling for extended periods of time up to eight (8) hours per shift. 
  • Must be able to navigate stairs and uneven surfaces. 
  • Ability to reach shelves overhead, carry menus, supplies, and work at a quick pace. 
  • Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects. 
  • Focus on one source of sound and ignore others. 
  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects up to 25 pounds. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all team members by speaking clearly so listeners can understand, as well as understand the speech of another person.
