What is a Sortation Center?

A Sortation Center is a specialized warehouse facility where packages are sorted by their final delivery destination after being picked and packed at fulfillment centers. These centers use automated systems and manual labor to efficiently organize parcels based on zip codes or delivery routes, ensuring faster and more accurate shipping. Sortation Centers play a critical role in the supply chain by helping retailers and logistics companies meet tight delivery deadlines, especially for same-day or next-day delivery services.

Team members often work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with supervisors and other associates to meet tight deadlines and maintain accuracy. Shifts can vary, including early mornings, evenings, or overnight hours, depending on operational needs. Physical activity is a significant part of the role, so being comfortable with lifting and standing for extended periods is important.
