CONTRACT ROLE

Sony Bend Studio, renowned creator ofDays Gone, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and Syphon Filter, is seeking outstanding talent to join our passionate and creative family in crafting our next high-profile AAA console title.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Mission Designer to design and implement high-quality mission gameplay. This role is embedded within the development team and focuses on delivering polished mission content through a combination of systems design, scripting, and iteration.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement mission gameplay that delivers strong pacing, clarity, and player engagement

  • Own mission development from concept through final implementation, including hands-on scripting and population work

  • Collaborate with design, engineering, art, and animation to integrate missions into the broader game experience

  • Translate design direction into functional gameplay using scripting systems, state machines, and event-driven logic

  • Identify, debug, and resolve gameplay and scripting issues

  • Iterate on mission content based on playtests, feedback, and data

  • Contribute to maintaining design quality and consistency within established pipelines and standards

  • Provide guidance and share best practices with other designers as needed

Requirements/Education:
  • 5+ years of experience in game development, with a focus on mission, systems, or technical design

  • Experience shipping content involving mission or gameplay systems

  • Strong proficiency with visual scripting tools and gameplay implementation workflows

  • Working knowledge of C++ and core programming concepts

  • Deep understanding of state machines, event systems, and gameplay logic

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to ramp quickly and work effectively within an existing team and toolset

Please note that the individual base pay range may vary based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
