Waste Services

VLS Waste Services provides customized waste processing solutions for hazardous and non-hazardous industrial and commercial waste, including landfill diversion and sustainability programs, solidification of liquid waste, recycling, wastewater treatment, and waste sequestration.

Railcar Services

VLS Railcar Cleaning and Repair Services division provides specialty cleaning services for difficult-to-clean products, including chemicals, hardened materials, and pressurized gases, and comprehensive repair services for certified full-service repairs, tank car qualifications, and maintenance.

Marine Services

VLS Marine Services division offers state-of-the-art barge cleaning, repair, and gas-free facilities for various chemical solvents and downstream petroleum products.

Role Summary

The Client Solutions Supervisor leads and develops the West Coast Client Solutions team, and is responsible for new client setup, profiling, pricing and proposal oversight, vendor and RFP strategy, day-to-day client service delivery, and system/process improvements for the region, while acting as the key liaison between sales, operations, and accounting.

Job Duties

Team Leadership

Directly supervise a team of six (6) Client Solutions Specialists across the West Coast region.
Manage timecards, performance, professional development, and discipline for direct reports.
Ensure the team handles all client and internal requests in a timely and accurate manner.
Create and implement best-practice policies and procedures for the team.
Ensure the team receives adequate training and onboarding support.
Attend sales team and company meetings as needed, representing the Client Solutions function.

Client Setup, Pricing & Proposal Oversight

Oversee waste profile submission, re-certification, and approval, including client notification of current pricing.
Enforce compliance with the pricing strategy; oversee price adjustment initiatives for regional and national accounts.
Manage profile and pricing entry within internal systems (e.g., Acumatica, Digital Waste).
Oversee the new client setup and approval process, credit applications, T&Cs, W-9 exchange, and other required documentation.
Manage the RFP process and regional pricing file for direct and government accounts.
Partner with Health & Safety, Government Relations, and Operations on proposal development, including technical writing.

Client & Operational Support

Oversee daily client interactions, ensuring timely service delivery and issue resolution.
Act as liaison between sales, operations, and accounting teams.
Resolve client pricing, billing, and invoicing discrepancies, including credit memos as needed.
Prepare sales, revenue/volume, and client reports as needed.
Ensure compliance with waste management standards and client expectations across all accounts.
Lead third-party vendor research and pricing requests for VLS and profile-specific needs; oversee profiling into third-party facilities.
Maintain e-manifest systems for applicable generators and respond to non-compliance emails (third-party and VLS).


Systems & Process Development

Support the region's transition from legacy systems into Digital Waste (DW).
Support M&A activity, including client entry into Acumatica/DW, profile and pricing entry, special AOC projects, and bulk border compliance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Environmental Science, or related field); in lieu of a degree, 7-10 years of direct experience.
5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or client services, ideally within the environmental or waste management industry.

5+ years experience creating and overseeing waste profiles submissions and approvals based in California regulation is required.

2 to 5 years of leadership/supervisory experience, including direct management of a team.

Understanding of disposal outlets in the region is required.

Demonstrated experience managing pricing strategy, proposal/RFP development, and corporate or national account maintenance.
Experience working cross-functionally with sales, operations, and finance teams.
Knowledge of waste management standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
Experience with client onboarding, contract review, billing/invoicing, and discrepancy resolution.
Proven track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships.
