Job description

The Opportunity

The $1.2T automotive industry is a pillar of American culture, representing nearly 5% of U.S. GDP and shaping how people live and move every day. At the center of this ecosystem are dealerships—trusted local businesses that help consumers navigate one of the most important purchases they make.

Today, the industry is at an inflection point. Consumers expect the same speed, personalization, and convenience they experience in modern digital‑first industries. At the same time, tighter margins and rising costs are driving a need for operational efficiency beyond what traditional software can support. Together, these shifts create a powerful opportunity to reimagine how dealerships deliver seamless experiences and build lasting customer relationships.

Dealers who modernize how they communicate and operate will unlock efficiency, deepen loyalty, and win long‑term relationships. It is time to upgrade automotive retail to the 21st century.

About Mia

Mia Labs is an investor‑backed startup on a mission to modernize dealership operations and transform the automotive consumer experience. Our AI agent, Mia, turns every call or inquiry into an opportunity, improving customer satisfaction and dealership performance through automation that feels human. We are trusted by some of the nation's largest dealership groups and are rapidly scaling our team, product offerings, and customer base.

About The Role:

We're looking for a Senior Solutions Engineer to join our Client Solutions Engineering team. This is a high‑ownership role that blends product engineering, integrations work, and hands‑on client problem‑solving. You'll build and maintain the systems that connect Mia to dealership platforms (DMS, service schedulers, CRMs), own production changes end‑to‑end, and occasionally sit across the table from dealer groups to launch and troubleshoot in real time.

What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and ship features across our platform, including our third‑party integrations and internal tooling that makes the rest of the company faster.

  • Own production changes end‑to‑end: scope the work in Jira, drive peer and lead review, and verify results in production.

  • Respond to production alerts and incidents, diagnose root causes, and fix fast — all while keeping impacted clients informed.

  • Support dealer onboarding and launches: collaborate with Account Managers and dealer group personnel to set up integrations, make changes to phone systems, and test the product ahead of go‑live.

  • Partner directly with client‑facing teams (sales, account management) as an escalation point — jumping on client calls when needed and helping teammates navigate tough technical conversations.

  • Represent engineering with clients: occasional on‑site visits and presentations to dealer groups during pilots and rollouts.

  • Improve how the team works — contribute to the creation and rollout of better procedures, safer change processes, and tooling that prevents mistakes rather than just fixing them.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python fundamentals and relational database experience (PostgreSQL preferred).

  • Experience building and supporting third‑party API integrations, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment.

  • Comfort operating in a live‑ops environment: on‑call / alert response, careful change management, and verifying your own work.

  • Strong communication skills — you can explain technical issues to non‑technical clients and internal teams with patience and clarity.

  • Bias toward ownership: you follow issues through to resolution and keep stakeholders posted along the way.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on‑site client visits.

  • Use AI to code — Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent. This is how we work.

Nice to Have
  • Automotive retail / dealership software experience (DMS, service scheduling, CRM platforms).

  • Cloud infrastructure experience (Azure preferred).

  • Experience with frontend development using TypeScript and React.

  • Experience working with AI/LLM‑based products, including prompt management workflows.

Why Mia
  • Equity participation through stock options.

  • Fully paid health, vision & dental insurance for employees.

  • Flexible PTO and hybrid schedule (3 days / week in downtown Austin).

  • Free lunches, parking stipend provided, team events, and a casual, but get things done culture.

Compensation
  • Compensation for this position will be competitive with current market rates and reflective of the candidate's experience, skills and qualifications.

Our Commitment

At Mia, we’re committed to a workplace where everyone is valued, included, and empowered to do their best work. Our strength comes from diverse experiences, perspectives, and skills, and we’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

Passionate about the role but don’t tick every box? We’d still love to hear from you, you might be exactly who we need.

Mia is an EVerify employer.
