Job description

Do you like helping U.S. federal financial customers implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve complex technical problems? Do you have experience guiding teams through application architectures, migration approaches, and security best practices to launch critical projects on a trajectory to success? Are you passionate about the intersection of cloud technology and the federal financial mission space?
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced and motivated technical manager to coach, grow, and partner with skilled Solutions Architects serving federal financial agencies and institutions. As a Manager of Solutions Architecture within our AWS Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) Federal Financial practice, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver a strategy to build broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, and Amazon CloudFront) directly with federal financial customers and AWS Partners.
In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer-facing and technical skills of your team. You will lead efforts to drive successful customer outcomes across federal financial regulatory agencies, government-sponsored enterprises, and related organizations. A solid understanding of all major cloud service providers - not just AWS - is important, as is familiarity with the unique regulatory, compliance, and security requirements of the federal financial sector (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST frameworks, and agency-specific ATOs).
We are looking for a technical leader who is passionate about helping federal financial customers modernize their IT environments and adopt cloud at scale. You will work with your team to provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership, ensuring best practices around security, compliance, and operational excellence. You will also serve as a subject matter resource on security as it relates to customer applications and services in regulated federal environments.
You will help team members ramp up on AWS, develop deep expertise in federal financial workloads, and build speaking, writing, presentation, and executive interaction skills. You will need to be adept at interacting, communicating, and partnering with other departments within AWS - including our Service Teams, Marketing, Business Development, Public Sector Compliance, and the broader Solutions Architecture organization - as well as representing your team to executive management.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about the following:
Helping federal financial customers design and implement secure, compliant cloud computing architectures
Our Leadership Principles - it's critical to love what you do and take pride in your value proposition to our customers
The curiosity to always keep your technical skills current while maintaining a pulse on federal financial industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies
Open to domestic travel up to 30%.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen.
Key job responsibilities
As a key member of the Federal Financial Solutions Architecture team, ensure our customers' success in building, migrating, and securing infrastructure, software, and services on the AWS platform leveraging best practices and modern architectures
In partnership with the sales and business development teams, formulate and execute a strategy to drive successful customer outcomes across the federal financial portfolio
Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Solutions Architects with a focus on federal financial domain expertise, security best practices, and compliance frameworks
Coach Solutions Architects in the skills needed to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many technical engagements, including whiteboard sessions, small and large group presentations, and deep-dive workshops
Provide best practices to customers and develop deep expertise in AWS technologies and how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform in regulated federal environments
Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS Solutions Architect community, including innovations across all major cloud service providers
Create and motivate the development of whitepapers, data sheets, solutions, quickstarts, and other high-value customer-facing content tailored to federal financial use cases
Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, service engineering teams, AWS compliance and security teams, and support
Broadly engage with Amazon leadership to communicate and drive your vision, working across the organization to advance the federal financial mission
