JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission, an independent State agency with their independent IS staff and IS infrastructure, is seeking a Network Engineer who provides support in the operation and implementation of enterprise networks. This position provides advanced support for network systems including problem determination and resolution as necessary. Primarily responsible for configuring, troubleshooting, upgrading and maintaining all Cisco devices. Additional responsibilities include Windows AD network in multiple sites, Windows servers, VMware virtual infrastructure, backup/restore and HP server and 3PAR storage hardware. Proactively monitors connectivity between multiple sites, Internet connection, Log and event monitoring, and VoIP QoS monitoring using Solarwinds monitoring applications. Deploys new Windows OS (both in the virtual and physical environment) using established security documentation. Participates in security patching and on call rotation. Must pass criminal background check.

TO QUALIFY:

REQUIRES: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or the equivalent in training and/or experience. Thorough knowledge of design, implementation, administration, monitoring, and support of MPLS network in Private IP network environment. Thorough knowledge of Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls, ESA/WSA, FirePower/FireAMP, Sourcefire Systems. Proven knowledge of the latest Windows servers in AD environment, VMware virtual infrastructure, HP blades, rackmount servers, D2D/MSL libraries and storage (SAN). Excellent written and oral communication skills. Significant experience as a network or systems engineer. Significant experience working with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and security products. Experience to include latest Windows servers and client operating systems, VMware, HP hardware, Symantec backup applications, SolarWinds network monitoring applications and Log and Event Management. Experience with Cisco VoIP is a plus. CCNA/CCNP preferred. Cisco VoIP, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent and VMWare certification desirable.
